The teams structure has totally fallen apart because of all the injuries and at the beginning of the season we all knew Demko and Chytil would not last the season but we thought Lankinen would at least play as well as he did last season.
Seems everything that could go wrong has and the D is significantly worse than anticipated.
I’ve thought about that as well, does drafting McKenna influence Hughes decision? Personally, I think not, but who knows. I don’t think McKenna makes us better overnight, plus he doesn’t solve the problem down the middle short term, no offence to Cootes.

Absolutely and when I mean instantly better I don’t mean a contender but it should mean a playoff team. Ok I will take off my rose glasses.

It depends upon the team and where they are at in their build.
Bédard, in his rookie season, would be an immediate help to last year’s Canucks. This year I don’t think the same. As a rookie he put up 22G/61PTs but finished a minus-44…..that smacks of a defensive liability on a team that can’t play defense…..which is what we have in Vancouver this year. So it might translate into more goals, and that might mean the Canucks win a couple more, but ultimately it means that we simply lose more games 4-2 instead of 4-1.

And as much as Friday was surely a bittersweet day for Hughes, because there’s no denying how much he loved Vancouver, its fans and the way the organization treated and developed him, he’ll love Minnesota, where there’s a lot less noise but no less love of hockey.
In Minnesota, Hughes won’t have to be the spokesman after every game, although he’ll be a go-to quote for his deadpans alone, coupled with the fact that he’ll get oodles of points putting the puck into the hands of Kaprizov and Boldy. I’ve gotten to sit down with Hughes several times in Vegas at NHL Media Tours, and the soft-spoken kid can have you howling one second and riveted the next with his candid responses.
He doesn’t shy from attention, either, even if he’s not as boisterous as his kid brother, Devils star Jack Hughes, or even baby brother and Devils defenseman Luke Hughes.
Still, Minnesota should be a breath of fresh air for Quinn — surrounded daily by a half-dozen reporters as opposed to 26.
Wondering as the team looks to find a new jersey to pin the "C" onto...

Hey, I didn’t say anything bad about Myers.
Nobody should get worked up.
Naming him captain should be considered an honour.
As far as I’m concerned, they could also hang his jersey in the rafters.
He doesn’t even need to take it off.
