You'd hump Locutus if he was overweight and you were drunk enough to be seeing two of him.

Re: We're All Doomed!™ (the Conquest, War, Famine, and Death Thread)
So a few weeks ago someone hacked the fridges and freezers of a chain of French supermarkets and set the temperature to 50 C.
Vast amounts of food was destroyed. No one claimed credit for it.
Yesterday the same thing happened in Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Luxembourg and Belgium.
Immense amounts of food being destroyed. No demands for ransom. No one taking credit.
I’m pretty sure I know who is responsible.
The russians are engaged in so called hybrid warfare against Europe.
There's arson, assassinations, hacker attacks against banks, public institutions and energy companies, mail bombs aimed at people in the weapon industry, drones flying near airports so they have to be shut down. Sabotage against railroads. All sorts of shit.
This destruction of frozen and refrigerated food is just the newesr addition to the list.
And they of course never admit to any of it, even though a lot of it can be traced back. But most of the physical actions are performed by useful idiots, typically petty criminals, who are offered cash to carry them out, and often they don’t even know who paid them or why.
Anyway, stores are learning the hard way that they should not have all their equipment connected to the internet.
Better to set the temperatures locally in the store.
And a good thing we haven’t allowed self driving cars yet.

All joking aside, why the fuck does your refrigerator need to be hooked up to the damned internet anyhow?

For a cabin or summerhouse I can see that it’s useful. At the end of the season you empty the fridge and freezer and turn them off. Then if they are connected to the internet, you can turn them on 24 hours before you go there, so that they are cold when you arrive.
For a store? I have no idea. You have staff there every day, and the freezers and refrigerators are in constant use.
Also, most stores don’t use this technology. And moving forward I think those who have it will most likely abandon it.
Oh, and I just read that Ireland was also affected by the recent hacker attack.

An internet connected fridge can inform you if the duty cycle starts shortening indicating an imminent component failure.

This is why they have to label curling irons for external use only
