Mr Aquilini and his minions have failed to provide a stimulating platform for Quinn to perform on.

Imagine the Booty from a Hughes trade this deadline if we retained to close the deal. It doesn't have to be with NJ even.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sun Oct 26, 2025 3:10 pmTank, it’s a good class. Would love to be in a position to get lucky on the lottery roll for the 1st OA. McKenna not intrigue you?donlever wrote: ↑Sun Oct 26, 2025 2:23 pm Are you asking if we should kind of sort of "tank" so as to enable us to follow a more Jeff Gorton/Kent Hughes/Martin St. Louis model?
Or just leave the team as it is with zero player movement because what you see is what you get and picking top 10 is inevitable?
If the mediocrity continues to Xmas then you have to come up with a path forward which includes moving on from premium assets at their peak to bring back the type of package that can give a true rebuild the boost it needs.
A top 5 pick with a decent % chance at winning the lottery, another 1st rounder or 2 in a deep draught... All moves that require serious testicular fortitude
If you need air...call it in

For the first time ever I see QH wanting to leave. If the team does it right they could actually be better long term.
I was sooooooo excited about this year and had high expectations. Now I see the same thing that we saw last year.
I’m still going to watch and cheer the team on for wins, something about the team is off. Way too many games being outshot. Need to correct that to get some W’s happening.
Still got to believe.

Well, he’s out with a lower-body injury. Hopefully just a nagging thing that everybody agreed would be better addressed with rehab and rest.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sun Oct 26, 2025 3:40 pmSpeaking of Hughes, he doesn’t seem like his usual self right now. Still early, but I’ve seen much better versions of Quinton. Too early for alarm bells
This compressed schedule blows.

I don't know if its the individuals (well, it certainly is with EP40) or the offensive zone philosophy, but it seems to me compared with other teams, that the Canucks don't shoot not to score (with that shot). They don't seem to try to leverage chaos from rebounds and deflections off defenders -- this could be due to perfectionism or a team preference for possession.
But its a curious preference with this group, because it isn't a highly skilled team as far as NHL teams go, and they simply aren't going to seamlessly execute as many backdoor plays, cross ice sauces, etc. Even the players who will take low probability shots (Angry Elf) often are trying to pick corners instead of send it into the feet and pads.
This might be changing, though. I noticed a few shots last night -- East Vander, Sure Wood, even DeBrusk, that seemed designed for rebounds and possible chaos. But to make it work, there's got to be a net crasher who isn't fading off into the soft spot like he's Leon Draisatl.
