Re: 2027 NHL Draft

That’s why RJ’s strategy of pushing the pick out half a decade away is so brilliant. By that time, there’s a very good chance Bettman’s memory will be shot and he’ll forget the pick was traded away. He’ll just see where the Rags finished in the standings and mysteriously the lottery balls will roll i ...

The Canucks could finish dead last until 2031, and I still figure they’ll have better luck getting 1OA with the Rags pick.

Re: 2027 NHL Draft

I wasn’t really keen on trading Hronek for a first round pick this last draft, but this upcoming draft I’d be a lot more open to it, preferably after Christmas near the TDL. If they could somehow snag DuPont and a true number one centre, they could have most of the parts of their next core in place.

Re: 2027 NHL Draft

The most important website for the Canucks upcoming season is up and running. It’s currently based on last year’s standings. https://www.tankathon.com/nhl/mock-draft I ran it to start the year. The Canucks did pretty well, only dropping two spots. 1 (up 9 spots) PIT Landon DuPont RD | Michigan 6'0" 1 ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 26-27

Burrows or Bieksa as Abby HC would be fine by me, but I suspect they aren’t interested.

Re: Canucks Young Guns

Right after the draft all the picks (100% of the 224 picks) seem to have a chance, at least to the team drafting them. The reality is only about 20% (44 players) will play 200 NHL games, and only about 10% (22 players) will play 500 games. The further they get from the draft, the easier it gets to ...

Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas

Shane Wright = Doug Wickenheiser
After his Regina Pats season of 79-89-81-170 he was selected 1OA then peaked at 78-25-30-55 in his best season in the NHL.
Montreal made the right call on Wright’s draft day, so should the Canucks, hard pass!

Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas

I don’t think Seattle wants to trade with Vancouver unless they get a great deal in return. I think the Canucks should just pass and stay the course. Wright looks like a bust to me. Here’s AIs take: The criticism surrounding Seattle Kraken center Shane Wright—and the conversation about whether he mig ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 26-27

Ryan Mougenel seems like a good hire for a team that isn’t expected to make the playoffs anytime soon. Here’ AIs take: Ryan Mougenel comes to Vancouver fresh off an incredibly successful run. Over his five seasons as the head coach of the Providence Bruins (2021 to 2026), he compiled a stellar **217- ...

Re: AROUND THE LEAGUE - 26-27

Read a bunch of stuff about teams cool on DeBrusk due to term of deal combined with streaky game. Decent erm and dollar investment on a guy you never know when you can count on..... Why the Bruins let him walk in FA. He is inconsistent and streaky. But a guy who will get you 25-30 goals and is ...

Re: AROUND THE LEAGUE - 26-27

4.7m cap dump for two years has to be a first rounder, even if he plays well and they can retain and flip him for another pick at this or next trade TDL. In a rebuild, they aren’t adding players like him to be part of the core.

Re: Canucks News N Notes 26-27

The JT Miller trade chain is going to get long. I always like a good trade chain. I think the Canucks win the trade now with the 2030 1st rounder. Miller ……………………1st Rounder………..Meaty………….1st Rounder (2030)………….? Dorrington ……………Mancini Brannstrom ………….Chytil Miller will be in the last year of his co ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 26-27

AI helped me recall: “The friction boiled down to a mix of team frustration and a specific sequence of low-effort play: The Team's Deficit: The Canucks were enduring a miserable, highly tense start to the 2022–23 season under Bruce Boudreau, sitting at a winless 0-4-2 going into that game. The Shift: ...
