Re: 2026 NHL Draft
Lets see some predictions. First pick should be whoever is left between McKenna, Stenberg, or Reid, but I am expecting Malhotra. As am I. I expect ownership to put their thumb on the scale for the marketing angle. This was the basis of my only other correct Canuck draft prediction, Jett Woo. Which ...

We can still fantasize about some other team being willing to give up an asset to get him.Carl Yagro wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2026 7:13 pm The only sad thing if they do win tonight is... the EP trade talk is likely forever dead.

There's no value to me in that unless the Mods decide to let Chef and Blob back on the board.Cousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2026 9:52 am I just hope they hire Mike Gillis to come back and be an AGM. That would be grand.
I could imagine a world in which they think it would be worth their while -- for brief period.

Re: 2026 NHL Draft
More interwebs rumours have the NYR wanting to move into the top 3 apparently targeting either Stenberg or Malhotra. Would you move #3 for #5 and their 2027 first round pick? We'd still get one of Stenberg, Malhotra, Carels, Verhoeff assuming McKenna and Reid go 1-2. Unless the Nucks are 100 ...

Re: 2026 NHL Draft
Apparently the Canucks only talked to their top four at the combine. That would be McKenna, Stenberg, Malhotra, and Reid. I guess trading down isn't in the picture. I think that's the logical conclusion. But if their minds were made up, they'd only need to interview 3, so I guess there is still ...

Bomb it. Level it. Pave it. Haven't they already bombed the top 10,000 priority targets? So now they'd be bombing targets 10,001 to 20,000. What's that, all the kebab shops? Since the end of Second World War, the various military adventures of the United States have provided multiple examples of ...

Re: 2026 NHL Draft
Had a chat with AI on this one. I think I agree with this order: I believed it until the AI agreed with me. Now I have serious doubts. I think Verhoeff will be available at 3. He'd be a popular choice on this board. I'd like to know what the real scouts use to make their determinations. I hope it's ...

Re: 2026 NHL Draft
I'm not saying I'm certain that, in five years time, it won't be clear that Malhotra was far and away the best pick available at 3, and the talent distribution curve was such that any other scenario would have been far less advantageous. That outcome is well withing the realm of possibility. BUT, I ...

Re: 2026 NHL Draft
No way i'd be trading down based on this data These are statistical averages, which are very useful when considering the value of an Xth position pick in a future draft for trade purposes, for example, but on draft day, it comes down to which players are actually there, and what their abilities are ...

Re: 2026 NHL Draft
Ronning's Ghost sort of predicted my response .... A couple of us have run the stats to show this and fifteen minutes later, most forget. But keep trying, maybe one day they will remember. Repetition legitimizes. This is my summary reminder of who was actually drafted in the top 5 relatively ...

Re: 2026 NHL Draft
I was opposed to trading Hronek but with all the talk of the return he could bring now I am kinda on board trade him for a boatload. Circumstances permitting, I think the best of both worlds option is to keep him around for most of the season for the mentoring/stabilizing function, gamble that he ...

Re: 2026 NHL Draft
If you can package the 3 O/A with something that returns a top-20 pick this year AND a 1st rounder next year that could somewhat reasonably land in the top-20 (if not low lottery odds), I think you role that dice based on the projection of the 2027 draft class. Agree, except that -- assuming UW is ...
