Yeah, I did see that. My reply was very 'tongue in cheek'. Do wonder why it was rejected though, any idea?

I was really hoping for “Saints”. I know it wasn’t a finalist, but it would have been a hat tip to the Mormons (latter day saints), a reference to Slap Shot — the Minnesota Fighting Saints were the inspiration for the Chiefs, a hilarious irony since the Utah NBA team moved from New Orleans and kept the name and the New Orleans football team is the Saints, and an homage to me. Last night Hughes took over the NHL points lead for defensemen, now with 2 more points than Makar (in six fewer games).

So it seems that someone filed TMs for all the names after they were announced (filed April 24, 2024)

Canyons, Utah is famous for them and just on the outskirts of salt Lake City, the largest excavation of mankind, the Bingham Canyon Copper-Molybdenum mine.

Those Mormons really have the creative juices going, don't they?
What are the odds they stick with what they're already wearing??
That franchise is the joke that keeps on going.

Utah is the Beehive State - should be Utah Digger Bees. With Utah team colours - blue, black and white.

Because Yeti (think coolers and canteens etc.) have a very particular and complicated TM on the name.theman wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 10:10 amYeah, I did see that. My reply was very 'tongue in cheek'. Do wonder why it was rejected though, any idea?

The trademark for a hockey team called the Utah Yetis (and others) is held by someone else - therefore the team can't claim the trademark, and it was denied. It has nothing to do with the coolers (or did I miss a winkie?)
Re: Around the League 24-25
No. There was no winkie.
“We engaged with the Yeti Cooler Company,” Smith Entertainment Group executive Mike Maughan said Wednesday. “They have a unique and strong trademark on ‘Yeti’ and ‘Yetis’ on clothing or other licensed gear… We were not able to come to a coexistence agreement.”
