Chytil placed on IR, and they recalled Jacob Quillan from Abbotsford.
They need to play him 56 games in the NHL this season to maintain his RFA status.
He’ll be interesting to watch. He likely plays a similar game as Chytil with good speed, but maybe limited scoring at the NHL level.
He is also a lot less likely to end up on IR.
Nice that he may get to play against Toronto who just traded him away for Raty.

I wish the best for Chytil but I really think Van tells him, “just go on LTIR and we will let you go to UFA after this season.”
I know that is not great asset management but you got to think his brain is almost fried. They need to tell him that he probably should retire for his own health.
I honestly don’t think Chytle brings much to the table. Sure he has speed and can dangle but he is a predictable shooter first guy with serious injury concerns. This latest is not concussion related right. Wasn’t his last injury shoulder related?
I feel for the guy but he is better off going back to Europe and playing. I can’t see him getting beyond a one year league minimum how me deal, at best, if that.
If we have to play Quinlan 50 plus games to retain his rights then we should do that.

Maybe next season, if their top prospects develop reasonably well, they’ll have Petey, Malhotra and Cootes down the middle. They’ll need a fourth and fifth centre. Quillan has the size at 6’1 204 and speed for a checking role more so than Rossi and Sasson, so it is a perfect time to give him a run of games at the NHL level and see what he can develop into. I don’t expect him to be a play maker, but if he can check well, kill some penalties, and pop in the occasional individualistic goal, he could carve out a long term future with the club.

I hate to ask the obvious, but why the fook is Lankinen playing like he wants to be playing for Edmonton, or at least get benched/bought out by Edmonton.
He has been absolutely brutal. I'd call his play shitty, but I don't want to insult a good bowel movement.
Yes, I know the target for the year (I almost said Goooooooal, but we have seen too many of those) is 3OA pick, but I think we would be just about as good if we simply played 6 on 5 for a whole game. I don't have a clue what has happened to his game, but an .808% isn't even acceptable for a 3rd stringer in the high scoring 80's.

It's in his head. He's guessing, moving early, making it easy on shooters.
Are we allowed to put in a Shooter Tutor in place of a goalie? Pretty sure it woulda done better than poor ole Lanks last night. Sure the Ducks had some incredible snipes from Cutter and Leo, but methinks only 2 of the 5 go in on a Tutor, Leo's and maybe one of Cutter's. The others would've hit a Tutor or Lanks if he wasn't too damn short or takes himself out of position. A bigger goalie probably would've made a couple of stops on stature alone.
