He may be a diamond in the rough. Nothing that would alter the team’s trajectory, but hopefully a building piece for management down the road.
If we can pull an NHL player out of the 4th round - that's a huge win. Let's see how he does at training camp.

We're going to need a few mid/late round wins. Long shots but it can happen. Sick of seeing other teams get lucky and not us.

The previous regime has a few hopefuls to show with DPetey, KK, and longer shot guys like Riley, Mynio, Romani, etc.. As much as they fucked things up, drafting was not the worst thing they did. Could it be better? Yes of course, but I think a passing grade is fair considering. And that might not be a bad thing since the scouting departing was carried over. You wonder how much better they could've done with more draft picks/opportunities as opposed to the opposite in trading so many away. It appears TNFGs will give them plenty more.

I want to see the 2 guys that should occupy half our center position for the next decade occupy half of Canada's at the WJC this Christmas.

This could be one of the funner ones to watch in some time with a number of hopefuls on multiple teams, not all on Sweden like every other year.

What's the over/under for Chytill's games played this season?

Edit: AI says it's 49.5 games. I'll take the under.

He's played 10 56 and 12 games over the past 3 seasons.

I'll be surprised if he makes 30.

Let's hope that's a consecutive 30 right before the deadline.

I mean its to bad for him really.

He did show us some semblance of skill as a Canuck.

4 years ago, his 23 y/o season, he kicked it up a notch with 22 & 23 in 74 games.

An upwardly mobile player.

Next season he plays 10 games.

...and here we are.

It would be found money at the start of a rebuild. There are going to be those kids who make the squad because there’s nobody else and they have to get their feet wet sometime, even if they never play more than a bit role during the rebuild. Even if they get moved by the time the team is competing again, it’s an NHL career at the end of the day. If he makes it, maybe Pattersson’s greatest value to the team is filling in those minutes while the new kids cook in college or the A until they’re ready. He won’t move any needles, but no one expects that of him on this team anyway.

Kind of like a Scott Walker for us: broke into the league with Vancouver as they spun out after ‘94, gave yeoman service during the ugly years afterwards, and carved out a respectable career after he left. We could use a couple of those this season.

For all the piss poor managerial decisions that were made, there’s cautious optimism for the previous regimes draft choices.

‘22.
1st Lekker
3rd D-Pettersson
6th Dorington -> Mancini
7th Kudryavstev

‘23
1st Willander
3rd Brzustewicz (traded)
3rd Mynio
4th Mueller

‘24
4th Patterson
6th Romani
6th Alcos

Are they all gonna be NHL stars? Course not. But there’s already more here to work with than the previous 12 draft years combined, particularly in the later rounds.

Be really cool to get real, quality NHL ice time out of Kudy which appears a legit possibility.

Aidan McDonough played a game or 3 (can't recall how many) but our last legit late rounder to play quality minutes was I guess Hansen.

Yeah, Manny really utilized KK from the get go. Once he was promoted to Van, Mynio’s minutes went up. KK seems like a low maintenance D-man who more often makes the smart, safe play.

Perhaps Megs could elaborate more on the Mueller’s, Mynio’s and Young’s.

If you count players we traded away there's Gustav Fucking Forsling. 😤 😫

Lofty to expect those heights but I'm really high on KK for a late round win that can carve out more than a bit role career. Love the poise and seems to make all the right simple plays every time I watched him at any level, including the few times he's been called up.

For mid round wins I think we can already declare DPetey as one unless he regresses further. Didn't have the greatest sophomore yr but growth isn't always linear and I think we can expect a bounceback. Don't need him to be anything more than a solid bottom pair guy anyway. He's there once he finds consistency in his game.
