I hope it's a quiet day for us. Let's pick up some cheap character players in the coming months.

...don't worry about that...no one of significant cost value is signing here right now.

We are cold.

Also...lots of Werneski to the Leaves chatter (to which he is apparently amenable) which would suck....

Looks like Cole is out...Hawks allegedly about to sign him.

They have a appointment with the doctor in two years.

"What do you want, Radek?"

"$4.5M, two years."

"Planning on playing after that?"

"Not really. Just need $9 million."

"How about we do it over 6 years, and you see the doctor in a couple to address that lower body injury that's been nagging you. You know, to get you right."

"Deal."

I don't see how the leaves have what it takes. Knies? He's good, but not close to enough. What else is there? If I am Columbus and don't want to rebuild, I need Knies and someone that gets in the same area code as a top defender. Now maybe if McKenna is on the table....

If I am Columbus, I sit on this until I get what I want. A year from now, I can trade him to 10 teams (that's his M-NTC). And they can actually have assurance, because they will be allowed to resign immediately.

All Werenski said was "I don't see myself resigning here in a couple of years." He didn't demand a trade. These conversations happened for years and didn't get leaked. Or they never happened and players were lost for nothing. Or negotiations were going in the wrong direction (Colorado and Rantanen). Or the conversations had the kind of ambivalence that probably look like every draft interview: "I love it here, but I'm focused on this season and don't really want the distraction of negotiations. Let's see where we are at the end of the year." (End of the year: I think I'll test the market, unless you want to give me your very best offer....)

Don't disagree, could be as you say....rumours (click bait) have him wanting to go to Toronto or Tampa only minimizing options.

Turning down Dallas was a surprise to me.

Rumours also have the relationship going sideways.

Again...could be click bait.

We will see.

Marchment: overpay. Beneficiary of bad draft class.
Lousterinen: brilliant deal for the Panthers.
Zucarello was actually quite good last year. Its a bargain. Perry -- Kings missed the memo that the finals magic dust is finally worn off. Man Kings are getting old.
Schwarz: seems like Avs are pretty good at getting okay-to-decent players and having them get a bump once they are there. Sometimes reclamation projects, sometimes just guys who could benefit from a new and winning environment. Schwartz fits the model of the player, but not the age they usually target.

Me too. Would be a blockbuster trade. I heard he wants to stay in the Eastern Conference.

And I suppose that means that if we go to next year, we know what the ten team trade list will include (if that preference is accurately reported and real).

That's betting on a guy. (edit: I suppose the same can be said for Demidov, but it seems both safer and has a greater potential to look like a steal. 60 plus points in a season he started as a 19 year old.... Foerster has a half a point a game over his career, was hurt last year, and strikes me as a guy who tops out in the 60-70 point range if all things go well. That's a good player, but there are lots of those players. Demidov is going to get 100 points some day.)
