Yah, it makes sense though. Aqua-man writes the cheques and it sounds like JR intends to ease out of his role/job. Whoever they bring on will have to have a good relationship with ownership. Aqua-man will and should rubber stamp the next GM. JR pretty much said as much @ his presser.Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Wed Apr 22, 2026 8:03 pm I'm hearing that Mr Aquilini will be making the call, not Rutherford. As much as I don't teust Rutherford, this is bad news, if true.

Jim Nill.
Yeah Megs, it's like the kids who don't have the heart to take away Grandpa's keys watching him go head on into a school bus.

That makes it 6 ex-Nucks mentioned. How 'bout one that actually won as an exec, George McPhee (if you don't count Burkie from a billion years ago or Lu as advisor).
With how well it's looked the last time we had Cup winners run the ship, maybe nah.

It's a shame, lol. But he has had a few crashes now, and he's caused some substantial damage.
I'm afraid it's time to take the keys.

Oh man, wouldn't it be awesome if both JR and FA hire a different GM at the same time? That would be just so fitting.
No matter who's hired we have a perfect litmus test coming up in a couple weeks to see if new guy will be successful. He should be in place by May 5th. If we win the lottery, there's hope for a new horizon. If lose, groundhog see its shadow.

Re: Who Do U Want to See as Next GM of the Nucks?
I’d stay in house instead of pulling someone with little connection to the team from back east who has a quick fix plan.
Castonguay - POHO
Rutherford - GM
Foote - Coach
Clear out the remaining veterans, sign trade-able reclamation projects, and crash the team for one more season while acquiring more picks. Let Rutherford and Foote take the hit, be the floaty circling the bowl, and earn their millions.
Flush next summer and then name RJ - GM and Manny - Coach, and let the team start trying to win again.
But I’m expecting to be disappointed by someone hired from back east with a quick fix plan.
