OTW-GDT: Kings @ Canucks Tues April 14/26 7pm PDT SN Pac
It's the last home game of the season tonight, and it's an important one to lose.
So, let's put a bow on it the right way and send Mr. Aquilini home with the correct message.

Sorry Megs - I'm rooting for a win. A loss will mean nothing TFGs™ - a blowout wouldn't matter - fans with paper bags on their heads and chanting sell the team wouldn't matter.
4-1 Canucks!
4-1 Canucks!

If nothing matters, then why am I here?
I've got to believe, Corn.

Megs - I'm with your 100% on a change of ownership and management. one-hundred-fucking-percent.
But you need to remember that TFGs™ are soulless creatures we are dealing with. Even if they are at the game, they will only count how many tickets are sold. They will look at the concession revenue. They will count how many pucks go into the stands. A win or loss means nothing to these creatures. They could find as much joy looking at their bank balances as watching hockey.
As for their minions running the show, they are finally in the same boat they have put so many players and coaches - wondering if they will have their jobs next week. They will go through the motions and talk about how things are coming together. This will happen whether we win 10-1 or lose 1-10. They just see 'progress'.
But then there are the ticket-buying fans. They have been totally fucked over by paying for season tickets that should have brought them joy. Instead, they got 8 wins at home. Eight. Now you could argue that those poor bastards should have one last reminder of what a completely inept franchise this is, and give them second thoughts about renewing. But honestly, I think they've earned win number 9. I think the draft will have more of an impact on their renewal choice.
Then there's us - the lowly 'TV' fan. We only matter when we stop watching, and ratings take a nose dive. We'll still keep watching and talking about this team 'cause it's in our blood. Something TFGs™ have no concept of, btw.
Then there are the players themselves. Lately, some of them have started to look like they give a shit. They're showing pushback, and actual, 'real-boy' emotion. There's hope for these kids, and if we want any semblance of a future with this franchise, a solid win tonight to close out the home schedule will help them cope with a summer that should consist of looking forward, and not looking back.
So I ask you Megs, Do you really want to see a loss that you think will have some bearing on these limpdick vampires? Or do you want to see a win and give a little bit back to those poor fans?
Canucks 4-1
EP40 with 0 points
Hronek with 3 points (to take the team scoring lead)
Buium, Rossi and Ohgren with 2 points each
Douglas with another goal

I think the way to these soulless bastards' brains is through their wallet Corn. It's an attrition strategy.

I really miss Mr. Aquilini's pregame native land acknowledgements. I hope he brings them back next year, acknowledging aboriginal title to his properties was such an important gesture. This could potentially lead to new ownership possibilities.

Cornuck, I applaud you for an impassioned post for a meaningless win.
I could care less one way or another, but it was your second to last paragraph that struck a chord. I want to see a win mostly because some of these kids deserve to feel it. And I agree there appears to be a subtle shift in culture. I see some enthusiasm, some care for one another, and some actual jam..from young-uns! It's not their fault the team is in this mess and I see a real effort to get out of it (wish some vets would follow suit). They deserve some wins to bring into the summer if for nothing more than to feel a bit of pride (won't make any difference next year).
That said, I would take the last two wins with a grain of salt. It had more to do with young teams on the verge of playoffs playing with pressure and nerves for the first time in their early NHL careers. The possibility of losing to the worst team in the league while badly needing a win to close or stay in the hunt fucked with their heads. You can literally see the stick-squeezing, and it was no surprise they caught them in a vulnerable position.
Less pressure for vet teams like the Kings and Oil so lets see how these final games play out. But I totally agree a few more wins would be good just for the kids.

Ya can't win the cup if you can't beat the 20th overall team. Go Canucks.
The Cup is soooooo ours!!!!!!!

Hmmm...what is worse for the kids?
Losing a couple of more games where they go into the summer determined to fix it....because the give a shit they've shown ain't gonna disappear by losing the last 2 games.
Or winning a couple of games and having Frankie "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" Aquilon decide that our illustrious power brokers are indeed deserving of more rope....(speaking of striking "cords")..
The result being the young 'uns we like.....Buium, Ohgren, Willander, Rossi.....are corrupted like a Hughes brother and say get me THE FUCK outta here after another year of Pinky and the Brain in charge.
As far as the fans go...meh....any fan worth his salt isn't getting fooled or having his opinion changed with a win tonight.
It's fan appreciation night.
Embarrass the actual fuck out of owners and management works for me.
Just lose baby....

I’ve only been watching a few clips and highlight packages. I’ve noticed a bit more energy and enthusiasm in those. Primarily from the younger ones, but also Boeser and Hronek. Is Scooter still on an island of apathy?Nuckertuzzi wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2026 4:50 pm Cornuck, I applaud you for an impassioned post for a meaningless win.

Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

I would put him in the category of "going through the motions". He'll make some dangly move and lose the puck, oh well. He'll line up for his one-time, oh well. If it weren't for his salary, we wouldn't even be talking about him. #GhostScooter

I've never known Corn to be so passionate about the future of this beloved team.
But that being said... just lose baby!
