I wish, but no. Sound's like Olli Maatta is part of the deal. Flames are weaponizing their cap space. I'm sure there has to be some prospect or draft pick as part of the deal - I guess we'll see once it goes through. Waiting for Weeger's approval (he has a no trade clause listing a number of teams)
That's a bunch of crap XP. Weegar was worth way more than that. Not even a 1st???
3 2nds, a prospect who seems to be breaking out and a so-so D man. That's a lot of draft capital. I didn't think he would command a 1st. As for Kadri and Coleman - there may be a 1st involved somewhere, but I'm not getting my hopes up. It's more important to gut the team and finish as close to the bottom of the league as possible. That high first round draft pick is worth more than anything they are going to get in trades.
I disagree. I think Weegar does command a 1st rounder in return. He's a quality RHD, not necessarily a bonafide stud #1, but on plenty of teams he's first pairing.

The 3 2nd rounders are 3 darts at the board for Conroy, and they come in a deep draft. Together I think they are worth a 1st round pick in the 18-24 range.

I'd wager that Conroy got exactly what he was looking for, multiple chances at developing a prospect that could end up being as good or better than Weegar (who was a 7th round selection). He also got a decent prospect and a 3rd pairing defenseman with a good chunk of NHL experience.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

Apologies if it has been mentioned, but several of the new cap rule came into effect a year early and are impacting the trade deadline.

There is now a cap in the playoffs. Somewhere in the neighbourhood of a teams average cap hit.

There is complete salary relief if a player is put on season ending LTIR, meaning, they won't be eligible for the playoffs. Putting Demko on season ending LTIR opened up is full salary as cap relief for Vancouver.

Maybe they can take back a heavy expiring contract for one of their over priced Sea of Granlunds.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

He's a good RHD, but he prefers and plays almost exclusively on the left side—a very peculiar player.

That's how the Russians used to deploy their defensemen. Better shooting position but weak on the walls

Yep, and their forwards too. Of course, in 60s and 70s they didn't have any righties on the national team at all.

I remember Carol Vadnais and Ron Stackhouse formed a wrong-sided D pairing for the Oakland Seals way back when, but it's extremely uncommon to see in North America.

A 1st and 3d and prospect for Schenn? Blues are hilarious. They’ve been teasing everyone, but firm with what they want. That’s the thing, isn’t it? You only need one team to overvalue a player…..

(I don’t know yet if there’s salary retention, but I assume so and assume the prospect is not notable).

Then Armstrong gets a first and a third (also eating Holl I think) for Faulk. Wait for the suckers and get 2 1sts today. And still have your most valuable trade assets for the draft.

How it is done.
