Who gets traded next?
Just a quick, fun poll - who do you see getting traded first out of this list?

Re: Who gets traded next?
Myers.
Apparently an official offer is on the table, even if a more preferred team (DAL) doesn't play ball, and its only DET, once you've been asked to waive - typically you waive. Its awkward to not.
Hockey players avoid awkward for the most part.

I am assuming this means 1st before TDD so I said no one.
Then we will hear that the offers were horrible, blah, blah, blah.
Why is Myers taking so long, I know he can make the final decision but the saying goes, shit or get off the pot.

Re: Who gets traded next?
Maybe him and Mrs. Myers are trying to figure out the family situation that would be best for them? Maybe they're sorting out the details as we speak, before he tells mgmt?

Shit - that's a huge factor. Must have thought he was set with the NMC. The return better be worth it.
Re: Who gets traded next?
I don’t think it will be all that awkward for Myers to not waive. He signed a contract with the intention to be in Vancouver (as opposed to being in control of his inevitable trade destination), as “home”, because it’s where he wants to be regardless of the hockey, and at his age, he might have thought until he retired. Being traded the 3d year at the deadline would have been just a long business trip if he retired after. But now? It’s a move.JelloPuddingPop wrote: ↑Mon Mar 02, 2026 1:33 pm Myers.

And honestly, I can see him being okay with being on a poor team and playing the mentor role. It’s not costing him a future, it’s not depressing numbers for the next contract, it’s not wasting the prime of his career. Put differently, most guys would want off this sinking ship because otherwise the future is bleak; whether Canucks future is bleak or promising, Myers personal hockey future is quite finite.
But Myers is willing to move, but only for one reason—a shot at the Cup. Does Detroit really present this shot? Ex ante, no way, but he’s probably rationalizing its likelihood. The east is wide open. The team has been playing well and seems hungry. And the other thing he’s considering? He’s going to be moved next season so long as there is a taker. So what’s the chance it will be a worse destination. Or worse yet, what’s the chance the Wings are on the outside looking in next February and he’s going to pack the bags once again?
I think the discomfort of being asked to waive is pretty minor in comparison to the rest. I think if he moves, he will be doing the team a great favor.

Was gonna vote Myers, but this has been brewing for 4 or 5 days now. He's been taking his time considering it, and we were told that today was D day.....nothing so far. Also, rumours are that Detroit may be pivoting away now to pursue secondary options because Myers is taking too long.JelloPuddingPop wrote: ↑Mon Mar 02, 2026 1:33 pm Myers.

I'm betting him dragging this out see's Detroit go elsewhere.

If I were a GM of a contending team, the only player I’d be interested in at their current production, salary commitment and likelihood of helping in a playoff run is Blugers.
If the rumoured Blugers re-signing happens I won’t be surprised if the Canucks don’t/can’t trade any one, but I voted Blugers.

Re: Who gets traded next?
Myers is 36 (as of a month ago). So 37 at the conclusion of next season (I can math). If family is the primary consideration here, and it should be, then I could actually see him telling his agent to let the team know that any trade, to a destination he's not wild about, between July 1st and February 1st, will be met with his early retirement. He would be leaving as much as $2.3M on the table, but that should be small potatoes after this long of a career.UWSaint wrote: ↑Mon Mar 02, 2026 2:56 pmI don’t think it will be all that awkward for Myers to not waive. I only postulate this because, as you say, a move is different than working away from home for a few months, and their support network is here, and the plan was to finish his career in Vancouver. Considering the family equation for him and his wife, I think that would have to be in the equation for them as well.....
I for one would not think less of Myers at all for making that decision.

I went with Blueger. Reliable bottom-6 pivot with a cap hit that is easy to move.

Garland. I like the dude but he’s snakebit here. Is from the Boston area, might enjoy it.
I kinda want Myers to stay here or at least in Canada. If he has medical needs it might be better under our health care and if he’s in say Edmonton the family might not have to move too far or even at all. And I’d like to see him win a Cup with McDavid

I mean, that's gotta be what you're saying. If it's the other thing, well, yeah, you can eat that uncle's punch and carry on your way.
