Yes but. The agent has financial incentive and their skillset is a form of manipulation and negotiation that can go both ways. But yes you are correct the player has the ultimate say. Even if he is in his 20s and green behind the ears.Mëds wrote: ↑Mon Feb 16, 2026 11:00 am A player gets the ultimate say on what they sign for. The agent just negotiated and tries to squeeze for more. An agent is obligated to take contract offers back to their client, the only time they don’t have to do this is when the player has already told them that the answer to $X is “no”.
Management certainly wears this. The agent just did his job. The player thought he was worth more than he is. That’s not intended as hater talk, just reality.

Yes I forgot to mention the media. They too are a part of the blame.Madcombinepilot wrote: ↑Mon Feb 16, 2026 9:31 am Don’t forget the media fucking frenzy that was happening. They whipped the people into the said pressure with the ‘shades of Tkchuk’ narrative.

Thanks Corn. I suppose there's not a lot more to say about Petey other than we'll all have to wait and see (kind of like we have been).Cornuck wrote: ↑Mon Feb 16, 2026 11:05 am Just a reminder that we have "Petey" thread - viewtopic.php?p=607761#p607761

Sorry Corn. I wasn’t paying attention to which thread I was in.
I read Petey and automatically see red.
Just ask JPP.

Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

I know this discussion belongs in the Petey thread but I just wanted to acknowledge this is an excellent take UW! We spend a disordinate amount of time scrutinizing this player. No one can really know the full reasons for his regression but I'm inclined to fully agree with this take. I think it's most probable given what we've seen and know of him. Great post!UWSaint wrote: ↑Mon Feb 16, 2026 9:31 am On EP40 -- sure, he only had a season and a half a very-impressive-output (2022-2024 ASG), but until that time he was a regular point producer who looked dangerous a lot and drew a ton of penalties. He was young in the days before, and had obvious offensive gifts -- the shot, the vision, dangles. The 100 point campaign didn't come out of nowhere.....

Looks like most of the team will be back from injuries after the Olympics... (except Forbort). We might actually have 4 NHL Caliber centers...
Watch us go 15-5-5 to end the year

So, apparently this just happened at Canucks practice:
“Boeser slapper off glass during drill catches Chytil in face, leaves practice at UBC.”

If that ain't a sign from higher powers to retire, I don't know how much more obvious it can make its intentions known...

Even if the X-rays are negative shut this guy down for crying out loud. Let him get a head start on next season if he is intent on still playing. What is the value to keep playing him???? Like he will have a stellar back half, stay healthy and be tradable in the off season? Give it up already.
The only HW the Canucks need

Can Boeser accidentally-on-purpose plunk Rossi while he's at it? Rest his ass and give him a good, long offseason to get better.
In fact, I would ship anyone who isn't waiver-eligible to Abby for the rest of the season, and then anyone who management is keeping beyond this offseason (eg. Hronek, Boeser) can be persuaded to pursue what surgeries or procedures to cure whatever little knicky-knack ailments they've developed over their careers - that will knock them out for the rest of the season, to be sure.
Call up the Joe Labates and Cole Claytons from Abby to fill the gaps.
Leave Petey in Vancouver. If not to get to the salary floor, then surely to destroy his will to play in Vancouver and drop his NMC.
