Absolute tragedy in Switzerland.
Would they not have fire sprinklers?

Re: CC Random thread
Unpleasant yes.
Not the first similar circumstance, there are a long list of bar/club fire events in history....there were actually 2 other notable occurrences resulting in injuries and deaths in 2025 already.
What bars and nightclubs often have are severe overcrowding and low safety standards.
Combine that with dark, loud, panic & drunk and shit goes sideways quick.

Going to punk shows back in the 70s, 80s, a lot were in small clubs and illegal spaces. I learned early on to locate any exits.
Fire, cops, whatever... there was always a chance things could go sideways.

Re: CC Random thread
Yep...
....also not uncommon for serious fights to start at those gigs that turned into mini riots where having an exit strategy was the prime choice.
For example the Viking Hall on E Hastings.
The Buddah was no Heaven on Earth either.

Re: CC Random thread
Exit strategy is always good but the crowd and panic factor is deciding. Too many people and a small exit is killing it.
Most punk locations where i've been weren't overcrowded.

I certainly feel the age gap between those of you that listen to punk rock (or at least used to listen to it) and me. I think it's all shit.

Re: CC Random thread
Punk had its day in the sun. I enjoyed it at the time but simply cannot listen to it now. The older I get the more I listen to music like John Prine. My old man ears can’t take punk anymore.

Drunken party goers probably thought it was part of the show.

John Prine - excellent choice. Too bad he passed away a few years ago.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Fri Jan 02, 2026 11:53 am Punk had its day in the sun.
