Guerin hits the Bullseye with that comment.

Quinn looks so relaxed/relieved. He really wanted out. I saw an arrogance in him I never saw before. Sure sounds like he will give Minnesota a serious chance to extend him.

I don’t like him for leaving me!!!

He said it rains (in Van) every day... but of course it only *seems* like that. :drink:

Haven't seen him this happy since before he took on the responsibility of being Captain in a Canadian market.

But yeah, last year's shit show must have been draining for everyone in the organization, especially what happened the year before.

I just have a hard time believing that after a regular season like 23-24, after narrowing missing the 3rd round, individual records and awards... that some guys were suddenly so unhappy that they started plotting their escape asap.

Things happened and then got compounded by terrible decisions. Those sunny days not so long ago suddenly became cold and dark, seemingly not about to get better for a good, long time. I'm sure there are a few more in the room who wouldn't be too sad to move on.

I mean, good for him, but somewhat off-putting for Canucks fans who cheered and supported him.

But the saddest of all seemed to be Garland during his interview with Murph. That was painful. Just stop asking questions and let the man cry already.

The only thing I didn't like about what Hughes said in his post-game time with the Wild was that when he said that the team was heading the wrong direction and blamed injuries. If it was just that then why not stay the course and get back on track when the players return.

Perhaps in trying to please Hughes and get him to stay they made some terrible decisions. Something was rotten in that dressing room. The good thing in all of this is that we didn’t wait around. And we did have 3 Americans extend here last summer so there are players who wanted to be here. Wonder if they feel let down by their captain?

Hard to lay all the blame on management when the same old core couldn’t get it done.

Why did I hear arrogance in Hughes? Don’t know. How much accountability does he accept as the captain and one of the leaders in the dressing room? He just struck me as a little cocky.

One trait great players and leaders have is making players around them better. Elevating players. Quinn never did that. He was and is a great player and it’s hard to see him go but I don’t see him as a leader. He could win games single handedly but he couldn’t get others to elevate their game. Too many players deferred to him on the ice. He tried to do it all alone so many times. When the going got tough he wanted out.

Ya I’m bitter.

Ahh ok. I didn't hear arrogance, if anything it was the confidence that can come with relief.

But I am with you on wondering how much responsibility he accepts for the situation as a leader.

The pause I have is wondering if the rot is still there.....

Is the rot still there? Only if the rot is or is about Pettersson. There is no one left to blame.

Although I did hear that Pettersson was asked if he wanted out. Round about of asking if he would waive. Don’t know if there is any truth to that or just more on line rumour mongering.

Maybe he was talking about Petterson's "injuries".

Obviously my opinion on that is fairly established.

The thing I see that runs counter to my opinion is that Boeser stuck around, and likely took a bit below free agency value.....and he's been with Pettersson the longest.

But with Miller and Hughes departing the way they did, does he want out next?

Perhaps. But injuries aren't an excuse, they are a reason, and when a team is shitting the bed because half of their top players are out hurt, anyone who wants out is not someone you really want.....that doesn't sound like Hughes.

Hughes sounded excited and he cited the skill level of a number of Wild players. He had no one left with elite skill to play with and none on the immediate horizon. Maybe it's that simple. He got excited talking about needing a few games to get accustomed to each other and then what they could do on the ice. Once Pettersson went south who was left that had elite skill besides Hughes? So maybe he just got sick of us being a one pony show.

Linden was right!

Yeah, very well could be.

The link Topper posted to Guerin's comments are telling coming from a GM who was a former player....."if the the hockey is good, then you'll be happy."

I'm assuming "Linden was right!" is in reference to wanting to rebuild 8 years ago?
