He must feel he is under a microscope.

Look at us fans, 3 games in and only 1 point so we are already sharping the pitchforks.

We really need him and others to step up, I won't put all of this on him as he can only be on the ice for 33% of the game. 5 - 7 shots a period does not translate well for winning games.

As others have been saying - its early.

But it seems all of his speed (what little he had), attack mentality along with his work ethic are still all a huge work-in-progress at best. If it takes him 20 games to get up to speed, if he ever does, the season might already be lost.

I'm among the most optimistic posters here I'd say, but after watching last night's game - it is hard to see this team as a playoff contender, but unfortunately (or fortunately?) with Demko's play looking pretty damn sharp, this team ain't going to tank to get some more high draft pieces either.

Mushy middle as they say?

Hoping things turn around, and the depth gets sorted (Not seeing a Bains/Cootes lineup option as a solution). Fingers crossed on this one. Not the start I was hoping for.

It's not the losses that I'm worried about - it's way they lost. They look to be in mid-season burned-out, don't-care mode.

Let's see what Foote does to get the fire burning.

Exactly, 1-2 isn't mind-bending.

I thought the game against Edm, could be written off as a SC contender the past few years - having their way with a younger team. But nothing changed game to game in STL., ugly way to lose.

So much pressure in the defensive zone, which should have been a strength of this team - getting the puck up quickly to the forwards, then we all see the issues - no game-breaker up front etc., just hoping to do it by committee. But 6-7 shots a period isn't going to get much done, and a few shifts were 2:30 in the defensive zone... ugly.

Cootes needs to go back to Junior. I’m also not sold on Lekkerimaki either. Think we should be playing Karlsson and Sasson instead. Those to make us harder to play against than Cootes and Lekki do.

So long as Cootes is up, I think they should not be playing together.

Only two comments from me on the game. One, Canucks need to sharpen up after they score. After both of their goals, they were busy taking the monkey off their back while the Blues were hitting the gas. They need to be better prepared for that. If they had, they might have won. (The Blues were a bit better at the playing hockey bit, but not so much so that the Canucks couldn't have won if Lankinen outplayed Binnington or if they hadn't had the mental lapses. If you aren't going to regularly outplay the opposition, you must maximize the intentionality and focus of your play).

Two, the first time I saw Victor Mancini on the ice, he failed to chase down a puck sent by the Blues from the wrong side of center that might have been going on net. Lankinen played it to the corner because Mancini had stopped skating and was not going to be first to the hash marks (but turns out it wasn't going to be on net). I'd have plastered his ass to the bench for the rest of the period.

Yeah, teams who lack the game-breaker up front and win by committee are pumping 10+ pucks a period through to the goalie with net-crashing aplomb.....and they probably have twice that number of shot attempts.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

Not so much in the offensive zone though.

Sushi has a really good shot, he just needs to either find a way to make space to get that shot through, or have someone on his line who creates it for him.

Karlsson probably adds to the forecheck, but not the offense.

Cootes should go back. He hasn't been a tire fire by any stretch of the imagination. The problem is that he's likely too good for the Dub at this point, but the AHL would brutalize him, and guys who you see top-6 potential in, rarely have their development served by playing 10 sheltered minutes per night, most of it on the defensive side of the puck.

I think Karlsson needs a run. He's 25. Give him a fucking look. Ditto for Sasson. Youve had these guys lighting it up in Abby. Give them 15 games and boot Bains down there. Useless as tits on a bull. Call up Labate. Apparently he's learned to fight a bit. He gave Gadjovich a good bout last year.

Change the lines Earthpad !
