I saw the next 8 seasons (7 now) flash before my eyes as soon as they signed Pettersson to his extension.

I guess on the post-game show after the Coiler game they were discussing him and the question was raised (paraphrased): How many players go off the rails for 100 games after 6 seasons of NHL hockey and actually recover their mojo and return to form?

I can’t think of many. Certainly none who didn’t require a change of scenery first, and one that came with a lessened responsibility/expectation as well.

Canucks 5 game road trip is: Stars, Blackhawks, Capitals, Penguins and Predators. It’s over a week.

A 3 - 2 road trip would quiet the noise for a bit but it won’t be an easy task. 2 wins is minimum needed.

The only two teams I can see them beating are Chicago and Nashville.

I predict the Stars and Capitals will make us look ridiculous.

Pittsburgh.....well it's Crosby.....and if they start Silovs I predict a shutout for the Latvian (because that's just karma baby).

How many ownerships in the league would watch the Horvat-Miller-Peter scenario unfold and not figure out the management needed to be turfed?

Your point is well made but there are/have been others.

The Chicago thing.

The Sens under Melnyk.

The Islanders at varying times.

To name 3.

Of all the shit things that have happened to the Canucks since the Perreault wheel spin the Gaglardi/Aquilini end result may be the most unfortunate.

What did Bo have to do with it? I missed that.

Well, he inherited three pretty good centers, and look at the mess they made of it, Mëds. It's been a train of bad judgment; they sit with a pouty, overpaid problem child. It was a tragic series of moves. That's about it.

Over the years, for sure. The Canucks under Frank Griffiths, even.

The Gagliardi/Aquilini tragedy was soul-crushing.

Ahh. I thought you were inferring that Bo was part of the drama.

I get what you’re saying.

I feel like we are back at that similar situation when the Sedins were fading out - how, even past their prime, they gave us a glimmer of hope as so not to officially rebuild. I’m seeing it now, similarly, with our only foundational player in Hughes. The tease continues.

Let’s face it, Pettersson ain’t returning to form. That Swedish Gretzky swagger is long gone. Didn’t we see the same thing happen to Alexi Yashin?

It is almost like he lost all motivation once he signed the long term deal. That being said, I did see glimpses of 'old Petey' last night it just didn't translate into any tangible. Hopefully a rebound is coming.

I doubt the contract had much to do with, in my opinion. He had been looking lost for a while before he signed, which is what had many questioning the contract at the time.

None of us will know what's going on in the kid's head, but "there's something wrong with that boy". We've got a very small sample of 3 games into this season, and I'm not going panic/judge/complain until we're 20 games in. If he's still not earning (even close to) that contract, we're fucked.

Hughes can only do so much, and there's nobody else we can look to who can control a game.

Yep, just another day in the life of a Canucks fan.
Just want a Cup before we're all dead...
