The entire right/left categorization is getting way to murky.Per wrote: ↑Sat Sep 20, 2025 3:53 pmI didn’t say that those who point this out are far right, I said that the far right media tend to publish the ethnicity of suspects who are immigrants or belong to a minority group.Cousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Sat Sep 20, 2025 12:50 pmPainting anyone who points this stuff out as "far right" is the automatic defacto step one defense of the enabling lefties.Per wrote: ↑Sat Sep 20, 2025 11:45 amNo, that’s a myth.Cousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Sat Sep 20, 2025 8:44 am Hasn't the swedish press been guilty of suppression of information relating to migrant crime? How about your snitch show "Efterlyst" removing race details and calling them all swedes all of a sudden?
Then again, most Swedes trust our media, and the group that has the lowest trust in our media are those who vote for the Sweden Democrats. Now, that’s almost 20% of voters, so it’s a fairly big minority. Many of those would qualify as far right, I mean the party was after all founded by Nazis, but as their voter base has grown they have also attracted a lot of people who are just generally dissatisfied with the status quo. A lot of those actually used to vote for the social democrats before and are definitely not conservatives. But they are now voting for a party that started out as a bunch of neonazis that wanted to purge Sweden from racially inferior individuals.
I actually don’t believe that all of the 33% of Germans who voted for Hitler in 1933 were Nazis. I think a lot of them were just disgruntled voters who wanted change. I think Hitler’s promise to stop paying war damages to France was the kicker that got him elected.
The left brought cancel culture to the fore in the mid 2010's.....which was a form of social authoritarianism, and certainly social fascism.
The response from the right, in the form of Trump, has strong leanings into political authoritarianism.
The far ends of both sides of the spectrum call for the complete annihilation of the anyone on the opposite side of the aisle, even neutral parties are enemies by virtue of "if you're not for us you are against us". Unfortunately, the media has made the decision that they are the great arbiters in this situation and, depending upon which side of the aisle any particular member of the media sits, have decided to maximize their "clicks" by painting ever thickening dividing lines between ideologies. What this has done is force people farther into one camp or the other than they would normally go.
Centrists are generally the quiet ones. They have little interest in extreme ideologies. They are the true libertarians in the sense that they prefer that each person be accountable for their own actions, each person is free to hold their own religious beliefs so long as they do not force their belief on others through unethical means. They don't actually care if Sally wants to become Jim, and they don't give two shits if Robert and Barney are gay. What they don't want is laws being made that are doubled upon laws that already exist. They don't want to see special treatment or consideration given to minority groups simply because they are a minority group. They don't believe that everyone is created/born equal, but they do believe that everyone is entitled to equal standing as far as rights and freedoms under the law of the land. They want merit based opportunities, not preference given based upon genetics or psychological factors. They are not at all racist, but they also don't want rampant immigration because they recognize that it economically kills a country that has massive socialist components built into the public systems.
I would bet that if you consider the political/societal issues of today in Canada by facts alone, you would find close to 80% of people in our country are aligned. But the media and political spheres primarily attract people from the extreme edges of the spectrum because they don't like something in the system and want to effect change (even though they usually are incapable of being objective regarding these issues). The regular Joe.....he prefers to get on with life and do something constructive, whether that be professionally or socially.
I suppose there is a reason for saying that things happen within the "sphere" of politics.....in a sphere, the farther you go towards one extreme the closer you get to the opposite extreme.
