Players get traded all the time.

In all 4 sports.

It's fascinating.

Someone is throwing shit at walls but it isn't management.

They don’t seem to operate on a long term plan. Just flying by the seat of their pants, making it up as they go. That’s all the chef is lamenting

One thing I can see being attractive about Vancouver's lack of scoring forward depth is that college and Euro free agents may see a relatively direct path to the Show. Or is this too optimistic? I don't really know any free agents, but the Canucks signing one gave me the thought

I dunno Chef…..

They definitely appeared to have a plan for the first couple seasons. Even going into this year I think there was a plan. The Miller/Pettersson situation submarined the whole thing. Now, hearing that they knew this issue went back several years, it is clear that the plan was not well thought out.

So a bad plan blew up in their faces and now it’s a shit show and they are scrambling to climb out of the ditch.

The error was in extending Pettersson with the knowledge of a locker room issue when the (allegedly) had good compensation for him in trade while he was refusing to sign. Hoping something fixes itself after that long is just moronic.

They figured the players would be able to sort it out. Not that extreme of a reach to assume but the depth of pettiness obviously was beyond reasonable expectations.

I remember one instance not too long before this all blew up....miller getting tossed from a faceoff and Peterson slid in. Miller was barking shit at him and pointing around to this guy and that guy etc. The puck dropped and Petey just let the opponent win and glanced over at the bully.

Miller must really be a cock smoker to illicit that kind of response

In hindsight they should’ve traded the brat (Pettersson) instead, there was obviously a problem with this guy as well as Miller, but looking at it now, Petey should’ve been moved. His lack of commitment is going to be a problem in that room being the highest paid player. Doesn’t exactly set a good tone. Allvin and Rutherford dropped the ball here, big time. It wasn’t a “new” problem. They’ve known about it for a long time and didn’t respond correctly getting ahead of it. And so now? They are trading Hronek to find a 2C, lol. Pure comedy. I don’t think UFA’s are looking at Vancouver going, “hmmmm, I’d like to play there.” Between our rabid fans and media, weird ass ownership, confused management, fucked up room with moody players, a coach who wanted out, it’s fucked. Reminds me of the shit Dickinson said about the team and why Schmidt wanted out, something is afoul, meanwhile Vancouver has become one of the cities to avoid to play for.

I agree they probably need to offload him as well. The ghost of all this crap will never go away as long as any of the three actors remain.

Yeah, I’m at that point now, clean slate. But it isn’t happening, the organization is as stubborn as a mule. So with that being said, whom, who, whose we trading Hronek for? Dr. Whom? Your thoughts? What teams are in the market for a top 4 RS d-man of Hronek’s ilk? And who are the teams whom have the Center capital whose GM’s are willing to come to the table?

Centre Cole Sillinger is a 2C the Canucks could look at trading Hronek for. The BJ’s have Monahan and Fantilli ahead of him on the depth chart. Consider Cayden Lidstrom on the way, Sillinger could be had. Yes Sillinger’s development has stalled, plateaued, could be a depth chart, numbers situation, whose knows… but something to consider. Also, the CBJ’s have the 14th pick and 20th pick on thus years draft.

With Hronek obviously being the better player here the BJ’s could package up Sillinger and the BJ’s 20th pick for Hronek and the Canucks 47th pick?

We then load up on forwards with the 15th and 20th pick.

With Sillinger and the two added forward prospects the situation at forward is looking somewhat better. Still need some horses in the top 6, though. Doesn’t really solve that problem
