Re: 2025 Trade Deadline
I'm genuinely curious why people feel ownership was meddling with things and are responsible for the lack of action.
Is there any legitimate evidence other than "it just has to be their fault" ?
I think i believe Alvin when he says nobody wants to surrender quality assets for a near 7 million dollar softer than butter brickfoot

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline
Likely presumptive based on historical data like the:
Richards trade thing
Linden rebuild thing
Gillis rebuild thing
......scuttlebutt in the webz world suggests Boeser trade offers were less than enticing for the Nuck power brokers.
So is Boeser for a late 2nd better than Boeser helping us make the post season?
Even if we lose him July 1?
From an all encompassing perspective..

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline
Yeah sounds similar to last year's argument of it being worth it to get Z and Lindholm if it meant the experience of a decent playoff run. Think of it as trading a late 2nd to obtain Boeser.donlever wrote: ↑Sun Mar 09, 2025 8:34 am Likely presumptive based on historical data like the:

I just feel JR would not work under those conditions. He's walked away from something similar in the past

Was Boeser for a late 2nd on the table?donlever wrote: ↑Sun Mar 09, 2025 8:34 am Likely presumptive based on historical data like the:

Based on the Alvin presser and Friedmans reporting, my guess it was a later round pick with conditions to move up ...
The challenge for the contending teams was that almost all of them didn't have a first round pick to give up, more teams had a second but not sure if it was teams who would have interest in him...
Not to mention cap restraints for contenders...
For the non contenders, my guess is that they were scared away when told of the numbers Boeser's agent is looking for? Not sure why else a team like Chicago with a hoard of picks wouldn't want his character to help mentor their younger players?
Take care..

He's also 76 years old, at the tail end of his hockey career (with another GM or VP/President gig highly unlikely) and making multiple millions until.2027.

Just think of Swayman's contract battle to remain in Boston.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.
I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline
Picking up on a concern you've raised a few times.... the falling CDN $ and a rising US $ salary cap...
These comparisons are fluid, but a $95.5 millon cap next season is the equivelent of $139 million CDN and the projected cap of $113.5 in 3 years is the equivelent of $165 millon CDN...
With all this crazy talk about burning ownership because some think they interfere in managments decisions, we might soon find outselves grateful that ownership is committed to winning a Cup because there is worry in some markets on both sides of the border that teams will stop spending to the ceiling...
Take care..

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline
The biggest issue with this ownership has always been the disconnect with its fanbase. They somehow have it in their collective minds that this market doesn’t want a rebuild when in fact the opposite, it craves it. So I should’ve expanded upon saying that the Aqualini’s most likely meddled in the Boeser trade talks. No. Their mandate did. They may not have so much directly meddled. That was an assumption based on history only.
Also, I wonder how much Boeser now wants to stay here after Allvin’s comments regarding trying to trade him. It seems that Allvin doesn’t want to shut up in press scrums as much as Rutherford doesn’t want to. Foot in mouth disease seems to be a problem with these two. But I chalk that up as “we’ve made a mess here and have no excuses explaining the mess we’ve made here, so I’m going to say things I shouldn’t that will create a bigger mess for me”. I sensed defeat “in himself” in Alvin’s press scrum. Not happy with how he got here.
I’m not so much as irritated with the outcome of the trade deadline as I am concerned with the cumulative efforts on behalf of managements “decisions” over the past two years that brought us here. The big picture you may say. And when considering the big picture, it seems “again” that nothing has changed with the direction of this club, just new faces under the same ownership. Same old song and dance. It’s the continuation of this that’s wearing this market down - the mushy middle they call it. Yay. Never quite good enough, never quite bad enough and we are seeing no end to that, IMHO. The Aqualini Way.

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline
The mushy middle lol.
I'd further disect that but your stated preference is I don't.
To carry on with your point there feels to be a sense of ambivalence creeping into the market.
In my world a good number of old time fans claim to be losing interest and the threat of a generational void seems to me a possibility for various reasons.
We are oft described as a "hockey mad" market.
I've never been so sure about that.
But.
Hockey mad or not, the ownership should tread lightly with the local fan base.
Whether it is loss of interest or priced out of fandom I believe there to be a threat to the general populations loyalty (or love) for this team.

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline
Yes, seeing the ambivalence as well. I myself am starting to tune out. The interest is waning. Most likely due to “I’ve seen this picture before”. I guess that comes with age.
What the main frustration is for me is that we saw a lot of hope with this core and I’ll go back as far as when Horvat was here regarding “this core”. But it seems that the seed of trouble was planted at the handling of the Horvat contract situation and the so called dislike between him and Miller. I’m not so much as irritated with the return on the Horvat trade as I do like Hronek but the troubles in the room had become evident back then and that they may have chose the wrong guy to keep.
I’m more concerned at this managements inability to recognize “the” problem or “a” problem and how to effectively deal with it properly and not setting this organization back as far as they have. It’s been a real dismantling of a good thing, a dismantling at the hands of this management group. No excuses really. And that most likely explains Allvin’s sulking at the post trade deadline day press scrum.
Same old, same old

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline
If Allvin's comments hurt Boeser's feelings that is a player I don''t want back.
I think though, fans are more butthurt than the player is. This fanbase is riddled with drama queens.

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline
This fan wouldn’t give two shits if half of the league relocated or folded due to economics. Pro athletes are grossly overpaid. Our society has totally lost the plot paying what we do for entertainment.rikster wrote: ↑Sun Mar 09, 2025 10:30 amPicking up on a concern you've raised a few times.... the falling CDN $ and a rising US $ salary cap...

It might have to do with 38 years of cheering for a team that has failed to deliver for 54 years (and I say that fully cognizant of the fact that there are few hockey talk message board colleagues here with much greater tenure). But yeah. At this point I don’t give two fucks.
Edit: Posted this on mobile and got distracted before submitting it…..had not read Donny’s post at that point, but he’s spot on.
