Re sign Lankinen right now.
Demko is done.
Possibly an up and comer young guy with something to prove and some fire as a backup for Lankinen.
Buy out Demko's contract and get a real goalie for backup.
Is Demko's middle name Jonah?

Is this what Demko's buyout would look like?
$3,333,333 / 2yrs, so $1,666,667 for next year and the year after?

Why buy out?
Wouldn’t we get at least a pick for him …

Demko is done???
Yeah no I'll disagree with that. He's an elite goalie who is recovering from a major surgery. It takes time, likely not til next year will he regain his form unfortunately.
I'm in the resign Wankinen camp and explore options for Demko such as offering him a more reasonable extension. One where we can afford to run both of these goalies (4x5$ maybe)
If he says no then he's not necessarily worth the risk so see what he can fetch at the deadline or next summer

As Ratman says…..Demko would at least return a pick. I’d say a 3rd rounder.theman wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 5:18 pmWith only 1 year left on his contract, after this one, don't really see the point in buying him out.
