There is absolutely *no* context suggesting that Musk's gesture was intended to be or received to be a Nazi salute. None. I mean NONE. To believe it was is to be afflicted with either a terrible kind of hatred and/or psychological derangement. To say that it was this is to engage in a knowing slander. To speculate, "some people think that...." is to engage in the deepest and foulest kind of divisive trolling.

Well, I don't know what his grandparents have to do with anything -- sins of the (grand)father prejudice is inconsistent with our belief in personal responsibility and culpability and the ethos of collective guilt never ends well. As for the AFD, don't really know much about them, other than they are (1) anti-eu, (2) anti-immigration, and (3) some people say they are (or many are) neo-nazis and (4) if one were a neo-nazi and wished to join a somewhat mainstream political party, they'd probably pick one with an anti-EU, anti-immigration platform. Which doesn't mean all people who are anti-EU, anti-immigration are neo-nazis, because there are plenty of non-nazi reasons to desire national sovereignty and increased border control.
