Mëds. He played three years at a 935 K hit. Three years at a 7.35 m hit. The second three year deal could have been a duel 8 year thing for and both he and Quinn to have been signed in the neighborhood of 8.5 each and they'd have them locked for 8.5 each until 2029. But alas your guys' Genius made a mess and wan out of time.
Yes. I just said as much regarding the cap hit of his first deal.....I just made a point of mentioning that he actually got paid much more than that $935k. And there's little point using an ELC for any sort of discussion here because EVERY player has to sign a 3 year ELC (obviously some exceptions regarding age and eligibility, but few) and he was paid the max.
Either way he crushed the first two contracts and you and Wiebo and a few others have been licking your lips to murder the guy since the ink dried on his contract.
Your 1 million per ten points is outdated. You lack the ability to understand what the cap was when these deals were signed. Like what was the % when the air thief started to siphon money? Topper has backed Benning since day 1 on that deal. I assume you are aligned with him. Give the fucking guy a chance dude.
Not true. There's no anticipation or excitement in "murdering the guy". It's disappointment. When you've rooted for a team, as long as most of us have, only to watch them fail to build a serious consistent contender in over half a century, seeing them get burnt on bad contracts and trades, fall short of the prize again and again, the cold solace of "I was right all along" is a pretty hollow compensation.....so yeah, nobody is licking their lips to murder the guy.
Some of us have just grown to the point that we are quicker to take off the rose-coloured glasses and hope that ownership/management will stop doubling down on mistakes and move on.
Your comment regarding Eriksson is case-in-point on that. Eriksson was a good signing during that off-season. His own goal in his first game turned out to be an omen, the remainder of that first season was painful, but his history as a player made it worth keeping him into the second year to see if the ship would right itself. He ended up being a mistake that was compounded by 4 years of hand-sitting and unwillingness to move on by Elmer.
His cap hit and under-performance warranted moving him for anything, even waiving him for nothing if needed just to send a message that the goal of the team was results in the W column regardless of who was on the main roster.
That is what some of us, including YOU, wanted, and you said so repeatedly, because you saw the cap hit and the absence of performance. Eriksson was actually a reliable forward defensively, but for you that was not enough (nor should it have been) to warrant his salary. Loui was brought in to be a top-line forward to play with Hank and Dank, the expectation was that he would be a 30G/60+ point winger.....when he wasn't pulling his weight at the 41 game mark you were already screaming for his head. Same shit, different player right now. However, when a guy was milking the team for 8% of the salary cap you hated him and wanted him gone, but now you are OK with a player, in an even more key position, taking 13% of the team's cap space while being out performed by players making less than half his paycheque.
And yeah, the $1M per 10 points is a bit out-dated. Seems to be closer to $1.3M now. However, I very much understand what the overall percentage of salary cap each individual contract takes up. That is primary reason why I was not, and am not, a fan of this player and his contract.
