Well... he is talking the talk right now. Saying there will be elections, that all minorities must be respected and that women can decide for themselves what to wear - there should be no rules on how they dress.

Remains to be seen if he will walk the walk as well.

It's a huge blow to Russia, anyway, who are losing their only naval base and air base in the Middle East and in the Mediterranean. The air base in Syria has also been serving as a pit stop for their missions in Africa.

The five war ships they had a the naval base have already left, but the thing is, they can't get into the Black Sea, as Turkey is blocking that route for them. So they have to either go through the entire Mediterranean, then up along the European coast, into the Baltic and head over to Kaliningrad, or after reaching the Atlantic just follow the Norwegian coast all the way up to the Arctic, and then turn right at Svalbard, and head to Murmansk on the Kola peninsula.

Putin is desperately trying to see if he can somehow hold on to the bases. He is now trying to cozy up to the same people he called terrorists a week ago and tried to bomb the shit out of. I doubt they can be swayed.
