Benching Miller sends a message not just to Miller but all the way down the line up.

Why are fans so quick with excuses for the team's or individual's or performance?

There is no mulligan column in the standings or stats.
Ya you are right. He shows up to camp in great shape. But cannot fully participate in all of camp. He plays no exhibition games. He misses many practices. many have observed his game is off. He admits at the end of camp he was dealing with some stuff but he would be ready to go at the start of the season. He isn't as strong in the F/O dot as last year. He isn't shooting the way he can on a regular basis. Ya you're right. No injury to play through. Nothing to see here.
The only HW the Canucks need

I have repeatedly said he is dinged up but I stand by that not being the reason for his benching.

While you were off galavanting said the world, some of us were watching hockey..

We aren't reposting news a page after someone else has posted the same.

It's semantics. Either way, he wasn't playing the way Tocchet needed him to play - whether it was because of attitude or injury is beside the point.

If he's dinged up, let him sit and heal up. If Tocchet can bench him the 3rd period, Allvin can put him on IR till he's good again.

(1) Miller has seemed not quite himself. Yet Tockey said he was a model citizen in camp. You note his fitness was at an A+ level. (So not a fitness issue). So why not quite himself? Undisclosed injury is a fair inference. Might not be true, but reasoned speculation not just gum on a wall.
Too focused on ragging on Petey to worry about his own game? :eh:

Brock is more of a driver than I ever gave him credit for? He's made himself pretty easy to play centre for the last couple years.

I’d like to see Allvin push hard for another top 4 in the coming weeks. While both Soucy and (of late) Myers have struggled with top 4 assignments, both are veteran guys who proved last April they can show up when it matters most.
Having said that, adding one more strong puck mover who is reliable defensively would really help not just the blueline depth, but the entire system overall, as the defensive breakdowns are becoming habit forming, impacting the teams ability to gain/maintain momentum.

Brännström has been a pleasant surprise, but Juulsen has taken a big step back this year, while Deshernais has failed to adapt to Footes guidance.

I agree with this. Need a D upgrade. In their defence, Soucy and the Chaos Giraffe looked Ok in the 3rd last game. Best they have looked all year.

That benching must have really been hard on Miller...

Just saw the announcement. It explains some things. Clearly, his head wasn't in it last game.

Hope he comes out the other side of this alright.

Points aside, something seems off with Miller. At first, I thought it may be health-related - like when he tweaked something and wouldn't take draws earlier - but Tocchet said the benching had nothing to do with health or injuries.

Tocchet pulled Miller's head out of his ass before. I wager he'll do it again in short order.
Miller is playing hurt. He wasn't benched.
I mean you tried and tried to get this across, did you know PA's announcement was coming today?
