A bit more than Horvat; similar stats when they signed their deals, Horvat had more service time and I think a bit more skill, plays a harder/more important position, and wins more draws. Konecny strikes me as more of a gamer. Both underuse their teammates.
Seems like an overpayment to me, but the Flyers don't have a lot of guys that can score, so its kind of a necessary signing. I guess.

If memory serves, they are actually cousins. A little bit of overpayment for the services of both of these players; the diligent Horvat, and the feisty Konecny.
I said it a while back but if I am Allvin I'm keeping an eye on the Carolina and Necas scenario.
If it comes to a head Boeser with a year left and Necas at RFA could form the beginnings of a mutually beneficial deal....
Necas, a bottom 3 Matt Martin-esque dude and a 3/4 defenseman beyond the Soucy/Meyers duo currently in place and we are (insert a caveat of a healthy Demko and much better EP11.6 here) a scary team.....
If the Baldies can walk away from the long-time captain and a more valuable position player, then they should have no trouble doing the same with good guy Brock. In fact, I'd go across the street to buy a Costco-sized box of Windsor salt and get ready to pour it all over Sluggo's contract demands.
As the article indicates, do you give max money and term to possibly the 5th or 6th most important, outer core player on the team? I was more surprised by the comment section, who seem to mostly agree Brock's re-signing may not be in the best interest of this team moving forward.
Like a few of us here have said (Don, HW, Doc, etc), you have to at least consider selling high. Miller is on the wrong side of 30 and who knows if you can even bolt Sidecar Brock to an expensive Scooter and have enough torque to pull the team along for the next 8 years.
