The Gudbranson trade was awful and so was his contract. Sure Hughes might make him look like a passable #4 on occasion but no fucking way do we want that slug back at 4 million. He’s a Stecher quality player albeit bigger and tougher.Richardstroker69 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 9:43 am“Ahem” gudbranson... of course gudbranson doesn’t have the fancy stats of Manson. But I get what you’re saying. I also think gudbranson would actually look really good beside Hughes. The Brown Wizard wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 9:05 amAbsolutely and would be an improvement right where they are the weakest....tough right side dmen who can actually play.Richardstroker69 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 9:02 amWe got lots of trade bait in picks and prospects to improve the d core especially if anahiem is looking for futures. If we could trade for Manson and re sign I'd easily give up a first and hoglander. He’s a bonafide mean top 4 rhd that fights and is good. The Brown Wizard wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 8:40 am Manson is still under contract with the ducks so the only way they let him go is for something that makes them better...in other words it aint gonna happen unless Benning offers up significant assets in return which he wont
The canucks are now shopping in the bargain bins if they're shopping at all
If Benning had a history of trading for dmen I'd say its a possibility but he hasnt made one trade like that yet...i cant see it

Is someone seriously suggesting Gudbranson come back?Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 10:39 am The Gudbranson trade was awful and so was his contract. Might as well try and get Sbisa back then too.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

Ceci jumps out as a guy who could be suited to a #4 role, he is a step down from Tanev but played more minutes and will likely come cheap. I'd consider him an upgrade on Stecher, downgrade on Tanev.Richardstroker69 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 10:29 amI brought up gudas as an option but he’s not very good. If anahiem is going through a rebuild I really hope we kick the tires on Manson. He’d be everything we wanted guddy to be.
Schultz would be ok, but I doubt Pittsburgh lets him walk.
I don't follow the Flames closely enough to say whether they intend to hang on to both Brodie and Hamonic. Stone would be a lateral move for Stecher, but will be close to league minimum.

Dylan Demelo is better than Ceci or Gudas. I have a feeling the Jets will re-sign him though

Ducks would probably start off with asking for Gaudette + Stecher + 3rd for Manson...not sure I'm comfortable with that unless Carson Focht looks worthy of a NHL spot, likely in a year or two. At that point you might as well trade for Manson as a rental trade in 2022 TDD, before he becomes a UFA.Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 10:36 amYeah no. This team isn’t a Josh Manson away from being a contender. Keep the pick and prospect. We’ve just dealt away a 1st, 2nd and 3rd. You can’t keep gutting the prospect pool at this stage. I like Manson as a player but that’s too high a price for this team to pay.Richardstroker69 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 7:32 amI’d be down to send them our 2021 first and a prospect not named podkolzin.Strangelove wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 7:37 pmRichardstroker69 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 7:07 pm Who here thinks we should chase after josh Manson in the offseason if Tanev doesn’t re sign? I think he’d be a perfect partner for Quinn.
I can't see the Ducks trading him though...
And an important note to remember is QH made a dman like Luke Schenn look like a NHL player, huggy bear is the type that just needs a defensively responsible dman to play with, so I'd look for more affordable options before shelling out valuable assets this offseason.
I'd just re-sign Tanev, until we shore up a position to be able to trade in a position of power, likely when Podkolzin shows he can score 20-30 goals in the pros.

lebrun:
The Penguins have informed the Wild they are keeping their 15th overall pick in the fall draft, meaning Minnesota will get Pittsburgh’s 2021 first-round pick, which is unprotected. That will complete the Jason Zucker trade.

What do you think Demelo will sign for?Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 11:34 am Dylan Demelo is better than Ceci or Gudas. I have a feeling the Jets will re-sign him though
As I think about, I'm more in favour of re-signing Tanev for 1 year (which I believe he'll do in the circumstances), don't qualify Stecher but re-sign him as a UFA (which I also think he'd do for $1.5 mil-ish), and see what Rathbone does to start his pro career. By the end of next season, Rathbone may be ready to take a spot, in which case you let Stecher walk and replace him with an ELC player, and re-sign Tanev to his sunset contract to finish his career as a Canuck.

Ok glad we didn't trade Bo, Brock, Podz + for Eichel aha.
I forget where I read that on here or twitter or hf...just someone's random ideal.
Eichel is elite no doubt, but bowie & brockstar, the sum is more than it's parts.

IMO, disgruntled stars should return a single very good player, depth player(s), and picks.
Unless you're Dale Tallon and biting the pillow for Vegas, you can't give up two quality pieces for one.
Bo, Brock and Pod is really 3 very good/top 6 players. I'd maybe do Brock, Gaud or Lind, and a 1st for Eichel and Risto, but that's it. Eichel doesn't really fill a need on this team.

MAX DOMI on the trade block..
London duo Domi-Horvat reunite?Max Domi appears to have played his last game as a Montreal Canadien. And wouldn't you know it, he's already taken Montreal off his social media bio's. Welcome to 2020.
Last week Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman mentioned the Penguins and Habs are expected to work on a trade for Domi as his dad Tie, and Mario are best of friends and are pushing for the deal. With zero goals in 10 playoff games this year, it will be hard for Marc Bergevin to give Domi more than the $3.15 million he made last season.
The restricted free-agent will receive interest on the open market, but it doesn't appear enough to warrant an offer sheet at this point. The Habs are better suited to work out a trade for Domi and Pittsburgh as mentioned and Calgary appear to be circling the waters.
