CC Random thread

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

I see what you're saying, but there is something to what he says.

As a result of Floyd's assassination there have been demonstrations, protests and even riots not just in North America, but throughout Europe, Asia and Oceania as well. A statue of a slave trader was brought down and thrown in the river in Bristol.

I don't think there was that much of that after the assassination of MLK.

Looking at a wider picture though, MLK was definitely far more important for the development of society than Floyd was. but the outrage over Floyd's death has reached gigantic proportions. I think it's more of "the last drop" or "the final straw" though.

And that list is far from complete. I see right away that it lacks Gothenburg, Sweden and it also makes no mention of Bristol, where they tore down that statue. So, yeah, world wide implications.

Wasn't it Gothenburg where the "protesters" robbed and destroyed that family's effects out of the back of a moving rental van?

Dont forget that little demonstration

Looks like herd demonstrating for the sake just getting outside, yelling and fucking around yelling at something that they know nothing about
or have even taken the time to study.
I also think the stress of a world wide pandemic and all that goes with that, / no work / less or no income / almighty fear / anger /one last kick
at the can / we can demonstrate better than them / etc............
What would today's social media have been like in the 60s ??
Seriously! These current rash of public gatherings are looking more like a need for violence.
Not buying the sincerity..

Yeah, the one in Gothenburg got a little out of hand. The ones in Stockholm, Malmö and Umeå were peaceful, but the protest in Gothenburg got infiltrated by some kids that just wanted to riot. Couple of windows smashed, and in the aftermath they even set fire to some cars, Fucking idiots.

But the good news is the guy in the white sweater trying to talk sense to the idiots. He’s caught on film twice, first stopping a guy from breaking a window and getting in a heated debate with him and his idiot friends, then later the same night, intervening when a kid picks up a cobblestone to throw at the police. We need more people like him!
