Re: Muzac For Munsters
More Finlandia.
Leningrad Cowboys Go America is a road movie from 1989 by Aki Kaurismäki about a bunch of guys in Siberia who decide to form a rock band and go to America to get rich and famous. Someone described it as "sort of THE BLUES BROTHERS meets STROSZEK with some MOSCOW ON THE HUDSON thrown in". Aki cast an actual Finnish rockband, the Sleepy Sleepers, as the Cowboys, and as the movie became a cult hit, the band actually ended up switching their name to the one used in the movie and performing in the outlandish hairdos and clothes they had there.
Then as the Soviet Union crashed, someone came up with the idea to hire the Red Army Choir and Orchestra to back them up on stage.
The rest is history. They're still touring and have released their own brand of vodka and beer.
