Geez SKYO, that's essentially 3 rookie defensemen inserted into the lineup. Not too likely. Oh yeah, this is the pipe dreams thread

Edit: Yeah, Trampkin is technically not a rookie but after three years in the KHL he's probably back at square one.

And Rafferty is almost a quarter century years old, not exactly a spring chicken.
Tryamkin will be turning 26 in the summer, has fully grown into his massive body now, the age when Chara started to come around.
Juolevi turning 22 in May.

Why it would be nice to see Rafferty and/or Juolevi get a handful of games this season to see what they can possibly do.
Also Tryamkin can make his over and play if the Canucks can reach the 2nd round! :o

The Brown Wizard wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2020 10:58 am I dont think we will ever see Juolevi hold down a permanent roster spot on Vancouvers blueline. Not unless he suddenly takes offseason training seriously...(i suppose it could happen...not likely at this stage)

The kid is a weakling
To be fair Olli Juolevi has had back (June 2018) and knee (Dec 2018) surgeries to stall his development. Typically it takes two years post op to feel back to 100% for a pro sports player. Still has some soreness in other areas of his body I assume because he's using other muscles to compensate for his recovering bod'

But yeah this offseason will be really beneficial for him to get closer to 100%.
He has had issues with commiting to off-season training and it directly reflects in the injuries he keeps acquiring.

The kid is a couch potato and the sooner we acknowledge this the sooner we van cut bait and forget about him and focus on BR and Rathbone as the future

Ah yes, that's another thing that won't be happening this season. No way we're going to have tryouts from the farm when we're firming up our playoff position / division banner. Probably even have Schaller playing D before a callup happens! JK

Tryamkin is not comparable to Big Z. Dude will be a HHOFer and he’s mean and nasty.

I guess they are both tall

True, Sautner probably be the call-up if anything, plus we got Benn waiting to play.

Yeah not comparing to Chara's skills, just the fact he grew into massive frame and played more comfortable at that age 25+.

2016/17: Tryamkin at 22 years of age in 66 games with the Canucks he had 9 points, 87 blocked shots and 145 hits while avg 16:44 TOI and progressively got better as the season went on. Basically was the only bright spot in the losing season towards the end.

Additionally it's really hard to judge how a defensive dman let alone a scoring phenom (for example) in the KHL translates to the NHL.

In conclusion I still maintain Tryamkin will be a solid defensive dman in the NHL, think a Zadorov type a big mean powerful dman.

Unless it’s cheap.... do not want. I’d look for a bit of depth and an asshole that can play. Either up front or on D. What does Ottawa want for Borowiecki?

Lebrun has linked the Canucks to Wayne Simmons. Of course Sekeres and Price are losing their shit about it.

Not a bad choice.

looking at their CF.

lol the Sens have 12 players going to UFA this offseason.

Boedker 4m, Namestnikov 3.25m, Pageau 3.1m, Ennis 800k, Sabourin 700k.
Hainsey 3.5m, Borowiecki 1.2m, DeMelo 900k, Golobef 800k.

Anderson 4.75m

Callahan 5.8m, MacArthur 4.65m. IR

They should be able to take on Eriksson contract eh?

Still got Gaborik for another year at 4.875m IR.
