Re: Canucks Young Guns
Daniel and Henrik made it to the point/game plateau for only a couple of years. The are more like career 0.7 point per game players.
Just a pet peeve when i hear the called point per game players.

LOL! I thought the same thing when I read the comment that they are PPG players. It's 0.81 for Henrik actually, and it was 0.85ish at the start of last season. These past two years have kicked that stat in the pants for them.Topper wrote:Daniel and Henrik made it to the point/game plateau for only a couple of years. There are very few players who are true ppg players in every season of their career.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

Re: Canucks Young Guns
I am hoping the Lukas Jasek gets signed this offseason. If memory serves me right, this is his last year under contract in the Czech league.
Still just 19, he played 16 games this year in the Czech league without making an impact (or scoring points), but once he was loaned the Czech 2 league he managed 12 g and 22 a in 38 games (regular season & playoffs). After his team got bounced in the playoffs the sent him off to the Czech <20 league playoffs. He definitely far beyond that league with 4g & 8a in just 4 games so far! Had a 5 point game.
We need to find out what he can do in Utica next year.

Dang hey, Benning picks/traded players having great season's this year.
Dahlen is the highest scoring Junior player ever in the Allsvenkan league.
Adam Gaudette has been nothing short of spectacular this season. He has points in 26 of 33 games played and leads all sophomore’s in the NCAA with 51 points.
Olli Juolevi has helped the Knights to another stellar season, the Knights are 43-14-3 and are 4th in the OHL’s Western Conference. I won’t be surprised if we saw Olli make the jump to the NHL next season.
Jakob Stukel 52 points in 67 games.
Brett McKenzie 65 points in 64 games played.
Carl Neill is in soul possession of 2nd place in the QMJHL among defencemen scoring. He has 13 goals, 52 assists, 65 points in 64 games.
Guillaume Brisebois has 46 points in 58 games this season. Which ties Brisebois for 8th in QMJHL D-man scoring. Carl Neill and Brisebois are teammates with the Charlottetown Islanders.

Re: Canucks Young Guns
All signs point to Boeser signing as soon as his season is done, could join the Canucks if his team is knocked out early.
Or if they win and move on, I'd like this scenario as well.Vancouver Canucks Prospect Brock Boeser Ready to Turn Pro
http://thecanuckway.com/2017/03/20/vanc ... -turn-pro/
He'll get some pro games in Utica, and in the playoffs to boot, get him nicely acclimated to the pro's & away from WD. jk!However, if North Dakota reaches the Frozen Four Championship game, Boeser’s season won’t be over until April 8. The Canucks will play their final game against the Edmonton Oilers on April 9.
Rushing Boeser over to Vancouver to play that final game of the year might not make a lot of sense, and he might not quite be in game shape if they actually won the tournament.
But, sending him to Utica is always an option as well. The AHL Comets have four regular-season games left between April 9 and April 15. Plus, the Comets are still well in the playoff race.
Signing Boeser as soon as possible and then assigning him to Utica might be the best scenario, especially if the Comets reach the playoffs.

They can't sign him and send him Utica. He had to be on the roster by the close of TDD. But Utica could sign him and he could then finish out the season and playoffs with them.SKYO wrote:All signs point to Boeser signing as soon as his season is done, could join the Canucks if his team is knocked out early.

So if Vancouver signs him and plays him to allow him to burn a year from his contract that's it. His season ends when the Canuck's season ends.
It's up to Boeser to decide if he plays in the AHL this season. If he says no, no it is. Best case for us, he signs for next year. Next best, he gets in a few games this season, burns a year but is signed.
The only HW the Canucks need

Re: Canucks Young Guns
Worst case, he gets season ending surgery on his wrist with the intention of being ready for training camp.
Re: Canucks Young Guns
Yeah either way I can see & hope Boeser signing at least a ATO contract to join Utica and join their playoff run, be great for him to see some 'pro' action to be better prepared for September onwards.
ATO- this is an Amateur Try-Out agreement, and is for players who are coming in from college and have never played at the professional level. These type of contracts are common at the end of the season as many players try to break in to the pro leagues after the college or junior season is over. The ECHL, AHL and NHL all use ATOs.
If Boeser appears in an NHL game, it would eat his first year of ELC. This would provide the Canucks with another ‘tool’ at their disposal to get players signed. They can sign them to an entry level contract and have it start next season. He would be able to sign an ATO with the Comets to finish the season there, or return to school for the remainder of the year to finish classes/exams.
Once a player’s signed their ELC, they’re ineligible to participate in NCAA sports, but they can still complete their classes. If the player goes this route, their ELC starts next season.
Now, we can see if their schedules’ would allow them to come into the Canucks organization before years end.

Re: Canucks Young Guns
Reid Boucher scores his 4th, it's too bad we got so much youth coming in next season as Boucher has a great offensive minded aura and a sniperesque shot.

Re: Canucks Young Guns
I know it's junior goals, but man Virtanen was a beast.
I think if healthy and away from willie next season
, gets away from the hot shot/bieber partier style of living, PLUS having confidence we could see a viable top 9/top 6 Virtanen in time, he'll probably have like 5-6 years of dominance IF he can reach his full potential, which will be when he's like around 22-27 years of age the prime time for a power forward.
JV will be turning 21 this August, lets hope we see a new energized and a more mature Virtanen at camp this September.

Re: Canucks Young Guns
I know right? The Canucks should forfeit their draft picks for a couple of years with the amount of youth kicking down the doors for NHL jobs . I don't think I've ever seen a team with soooo much youth !!!SKYO wrote:Reid Boucher scores his 4th, it's too bad we got so much youth coming in next season as Boucher has a great offensive minded aura and a sniperesque shot.

Re: Canucks Young Guns
right!?!
But really, if JV/Boeser make the team,
bart/bo/grans
sedins/eriksson
goldy/sutter/boeser
chaput/dorsett/JV/ rodin?or-nah
crama/shore/gaunce whoever survives the deadleh offseason (contracts/expansion draft etc) 4th liners.
I can't see where Boucher would fit, he sucks defensively, but his offensive upside is pretty good, it's a shame, but I think with the right team where he can be afforded a lot of slack and time he can be a good sniper.

Even without the sarcasm, have you ever seen the Canucks with this much youth? Sure, not every player in the pool is going to pan out - but there's enough potential there to make even you feel a little hopeful, isn't there?Blob Mckenzie wrote:I don't think I've ever seen a team with soooo much youth !!!
My memory may be failing me, but has this franchise EVER has this many good players not in the lineup?
