The rumoured NYR deal was Chytil, Lindgren and a Conditional 1st for JTM. At least that was the core of the deal, if rumours are to be believed, it fell apart negotiating the conditions of the 1st.

Yeah, I knew I wasn’t gonna be thrilled. That’s a watered down shittier return than the Horvat trade

It ain't bottom of the Nile bad, but pretty damn close. Should be fun watching all the crybabies thinking we'd get the moon for an asset that's had ?s around them every time there's a lick of adversity.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 8:54 am Yeah, I knew I wasn’t gonna be thrilled. Yeah, not looking good. Nevermind the bums coming back if that 1st is protected or packed with terms, it’s super bad. Rogers will chanting “Fire Allvin!”Argay Ham wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 9:26 amIt ain't bottom of the Nile bad, but pretty damn close. Re: The Hypothetical Arm-Chair Retool.
Good thing they balked at the deal. Hot garbage, really. I would say Drury thought he could pull one over on an Allvin under pressure to get resolution on whatever's going on in the room. Then again, if they were quibbling about conditions on the 1st round pick that would tell me that management thought Chytil and Lindgren was a suitable return. Either they value Lindgren and Chytil WAAAAY more than any of us here, or that was the best deal on offer at the time. Neither is confidence-inducing.
Sometimes the best move is the one you don't make. Maybe it's aspirational, but I'm going to put some faith in the position that this drama will subside and be resolved. Once folks know there is no easy way out for any of them - the principal players and the coaching staff - they will iron shit out. This team is better with Miller and Pettersson ironing their shit out and shaping up, than what it would be if they were traded - and this latest rumor would confirm that.
Will it happen in time to salvage the season? We have until the trade deadline to find out.

Lindgren (American) is a UFA this summer, lol. How in the fuck is he a good deal for us?Lancer wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 11:07 am Good thing they balked at the deal. Hot garbage, really. Unless a bidding war erupts and the return becomes a deal Allvin can’t refuse, sit them all in a room, lock the door and tell them no one is coming out till they hash it out.

Interesting theory.. has it ever worked?Kenji wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2025 11:13 pm All of the conventional wisdom is about age, but I think maybe the whole thing is about Hughes. This year ok, not, it's McDavid and Drai, but next...? After that he is a free agent again, so, what do they do. Maybe THIS is peak Hughes and thus, you build your Cup team around that. Tank this year, if you must. but get the assets together for a serious run next year. That's pretty fast. Need to decide if Tocchet is in or out, and about your players, maybe you move Pettersson!

Take this with a gigantic grain of salt, a rumoured Carolina package is:
Apparently Artamonov is supposed to be a top forward prospect but two things would concern me with this, potential, trade:
1. It would be giving up this season, most likely, so would our other top players be fine with this.
2. Tocchet doesn’t strike me as someone who works well with Russian players, especially forwards, would he still be a good fit as coach for this group.
https://x.com/onetruezach/status/188175 ... s1igZokqEQAccording to @coreypronman, he thinks the Hurricanes could give up a top prospect + assets for J.T. Miller. The trade in question would look like:
#RaiseUp Receive:
- JT Miller
#Canucks Receive:
- Jesperi Kotkaniemi
- Nikita Artamonov
- 2025 1st
- 2026 2nd

No need to make a move like that and give up on this season unless they fall completely out of the playoffs. Better to see how this team does this season with Miller and make a trade in the off-season.

Would this mean Carolina has identified Miller as a "jerk"?
But yeah, fuck these lowball offers...
