Perhaps Mancini. He thrived under Malhotra. Manny may trust him more than Foote did.Picker of Cherries wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2026 6:30 am Biggest winners with the Malhotra hiring will be Kudryavtsev and Mueller.
Sass, Karlsson, Raty, Mancini, KK and Bains all benefited from the Calder Cup. Raty just won gold at the WCH playing 16 min/GM and was 4th best on draws overall.Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2026 8:34 amPerhaps Mancini. He thrived under Malhotra. And Karson and Sasson. Players he won the Calder with. In fact anyone on Abbotsford may have a better shot at camp.
Raty and Mancini certainly seemed underdeployed last year for a team with no shot that needs to develop players. Now, Mancini didn't do anything to demonstrate that he had a good shot at being a impactful NHL player, but maybe Manny can unlock something. Raty, I think, has a capped ceiling but a capped ceiling that has value to the league. If he develops to that ceiling and is not a good fit to complement the next core, he will still be movable for value to the team he would complement better. Its very realistic to see Raty become a Jason Dickinson-like player, and as much as a joke as JD was when he was in Vancouver, the fact is that he earned a raise after he was (stupidly) dealt with a sweetener, he was part of package that brought a good return to the Hawks, and it won't surprise me if he sees another raise this offseason as a UFA in a class that's not deep.
Assuming they might fit him in at 4C? Not much reason for him to leave the motherland otherwise - seems most Russians don't make the move the A.Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2026 10:35 am Canucks reportedly reach deal with Ilya Safonov on a one year ELC. Not confirmed.
