Wasn't Doyle all hopped up on TOI when talking about Gudbranson?
Funnily enough, Tanev's minutes last season was just a hiar below what Guddy got in Florida his last year
As fun as these 3 pages of "debate" have been, everybody agrees they'd keep Tanev "at the right price", Doc's price of $4.5 mil sounds good to me - hopefully on a 1-year to take it to the exp draft and to give Tanev another shot at a raise after the cap rebounds post-COVID.

I’d pay him up to around 5 or 5.25 depending on the cap. Just because they are paying Myers too much, there’s no need to add another bad contract to the bunch. Tanev gets hurt too much as much as I like him. And he ain’t getting any younger. He’s not singing a one year deal. Get your head out of your ass.
Just because Gudbranson got big ice time in Florida doesn’t make him a better player than Tanev. Gudbranson is a scrub.

Seriously, what to do with all the right wingers if Toffoli is signed and fast forward a year from now when Podkolzin arrives. MacEwan has made the team, if Lind continues he should be pushing for a job the season Podkolzin arrives then you have Boeser, Virtanen and Lockwood. I guess we don’t sign Toffoli and focus UFA money on Tanev and Markstrom whom postionally are playing in positions where we are nowhere as near deep as we are on Right Wing

All effing around aside, he has a skill set that will not be easy to replace. His numbers on a google search don't relay everything regarding
his usefulness to his team. Has never caused problems in the dressing room or to the media. That's impressive after this long. Eddy too.
See what happens. No idea what to expect from Tryamkin, Juolevi, Woo, Rafferty, etc. Decisions have to be made on Chris and Stecher, for that matter, before we get to see a camp.

Absolutely let him walk if he wants too much. Hargraves took issue with the dumb dumb observations that claimed he was the #4 d man on the team.
They need some youth back there and if they sign a vet it has to be 3 years or less. Cut Tanev and Stecher loose. Is Dylan Demelo a decent option? Joel Edmunson is a LH guy but if Tryamkin returns, both he and Benn can play the off side .
I’m a Tanev fan but it might be time to tear the bandaid off and get younger back there, and ultimately better.

I think all along Tanev’s intention has been to test the open waters. He knows the Canucks are in a Cap bind. At the same I’m sure the Canucks mgmt have concerns about tying up huge sums in a D-man in his 30’s with an injury rap sheet bigger than Doyles disobedient public behaviour when boozing

Well I think term will be a big factor it what the Canucks do. If we could get him a a three year term it would be great. We know what we have in Boeser, Virtanen and Toffili. We don't know yet what we have, at the NHL level, in Lind, Podkolzin, Lockwood and MacEwan.
