Seems like Canucks players are like stuff that I put out with a FREE sign in the back alley... every time I check, the shit's still there.

I’d say easy choice for Weegar. A young team on the rise and not really leaving the hottest destination behind….although SLC isn’t exactly the top destination for many either.

Harder decision for Parayko I’d think. Sabers have been a tire fire for over a decade and Buffalo is sorta meh as a place to live.

Sounds like a first and blue-chip defensive prospect, Radim Mrtka (9th overall in 2025), going back the other way. Nice.

The problem is the players we want to move have shit stats because we suck this year, didn't even get a chance to establish a perceived value. So we're banking on potential increase in value on a new team, which is generally less desirable.

If no one wants the Canucks’ shit this week, hang on to them for next season’s necessary tank.
Play the long game.
Shit floats.
It’ll be more valued next season…maybe.
I’ll be happy if there are no buy-outs or multi-year retentions.

Good point made in the article. The big take-away for me from the article is the importance of scouting beyond the top-ten prospects.

Being able to grab those Boesers and Demkos at the back end of the first round to the middle of the 2nd is key to building contending teams. You can still find gems in the later rounds, but getting those higher-percentage picks and hitting on them is crucial.
