Re: 2026 NHL Draft
Norm's dad toughened him up by sending him to Quebec High School and forbidding him to learn French. Norm took some beatings as a teenager in ol' Quebec City.Tciso wrote: ↑Sun Jun 21, 2026 8:52 pmNot if he is a professional. Being a 2nd generation hockey talent, he should have been taught enough about the business side of the game to shrug it off if/when it happens. Like Norm MacDonald did after being fired by SNL. I’d assume his dad has helped him build a strong mental game.

Re: 2026 NHL Draft
TSN's final draft rankings!
Have us left with Reid at 3, with Mckenna #1 and Stenberg #2. We shall see how this goes!
A few names later in first that have been mentioned here, JP Hurbert, Maddox Dagenais, Liam Ruck, Egor Shilov. Interstingly enough you can tell the eastern bias as Mathis Preston is listed at 31, but still with Spokane. He was trade to Vancouver later in the year, also a decent option late first or early second. Same with Brooks Rogowski who has been mentioned as well.
Then a couple more names I've brought up for the second round perhaps - Markus Ruck, Chase Harrington, Jack Hextall. Like the size of that Maksim Sokolovskii but London guys always seem to move up the draft so wouldn't doubt he's taken higher than he should be.

So, Cuz, if Sharks (1) add to their NHL defense (Kesselring) and (2) get rid of a young top 6 winger (Eklund) and (3) clear some of the prosect forward pool, doesn't this sort of indicate the Sharts are targeting Stenberg?Cousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Sun Jun 21, 2026 9:45 pm It's starting to smell like an Ivar Stenberg selection might still come to fruition

Plus they picked up #9 and could be hoping one of the top 5 ranked D falls back to 9. All will be solid options to draft in the top 10!UWSaint wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2026 3:20 pmSo, Cuz, if Sharks (1) add to their NHL defense (Kesselring) and (2) get rid of a young top 6 winger (Eklund) and (3) clear some of the prosect forward pool, doesn't this sort of indicate the Sharts are targeting Stenberg?Cousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Sun Jun 21, 2026 9:45 pm It's starting to smell like an Ivar Stenberg selection might still come to fruition

Re: 2026 NHL Draft
They could easily emerge from this with Stenberg and Gustafsson, or Reid and Lawrence, whichever way they're leaning they're coming out of this sitting pretty. My guess is they take Stenberg at #2. Sadly.Aaronp18 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2026 3:24 pmPlus they picked up #9 and could be hoping one of the top 5 ranked D falls back to 9. Re: 2026 NHL Draft
This only increases my desire to see the Canucks trade down 4-5 spots if they can recoup something worthwhile, and I would consider an unprotected first in the '27 or '28 draft to be worthwhile. (Unless Stenberg is there, and they actually take him.)
I'm not expecting any of that to happen, though.
Anybody have any realistic aspiration for someone they hope is still available at 24 and whom the Canucks will pick ?

I'd still kinda like Maksim Sololovskii at #24 if he's still there, which is looking increasingly doubtful with each passing day.Ronning's Ghost wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2026 3:39 pmThis only increases my desire to see the Canucks trade down 4-5 spots if they can recoup something worthwhile, and I would consider an unprotected first in the '27 or '28 draft to be worthwhile. Re: 2026 NHL Draft
Yeah I have mentioned that a couple times in this thread, I'd see dropping back to 5/6/7 as we'd still get one of the top D available but would want a second 1st round pick somewhere to do it for sure!Ronning's Ghost wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2026 3:39 pmThis only increases my desire to see the Canucks trade down 4-5 spots if they can recoup something worthwhile, and I would consider an unprotected first in the '27 or '28 draft to be worthwhile. I'd take any one of NYR/CGY/SEAs 2027 unprotected 1st rounder to drop back a few if someone really wants to jump up to take Reid or Malhotra. We'd still get one of Verhoeff, Carels, Smits or Rudolph
