A bit of an odd hire in the sense that it looks like a lateral move for Seeley. He was the GM of LA’s AHL farm team, so maybe he sees more opportunity to move up in the ranks? I can’t see it being for more money.

Could be Surrey girls. Sometimes the simplest answer is the correct one.

He probably just wants to get the heck outta 'Murica, but maintain a similar lifestyle.

He'll still get the gangbangers and shootings in Abbotsford and the gridlock on the highway into the city.

Ontario to LA is almost the exact same distance as Abby to Van.

The only difference is trading the dry sunshine for the liquid type.

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

I keep reading that Canucks are trying to get rid of DeBrusk’s contract and are willing to part with him for very little. This makes no sense to me. He has a good contract and is a consistent point producer. Is this just internet bs or am I missing something.

Aspirational rumor-mongering by freelance journo-fans, perhaps.

Rumor mill is still blowing his 'I didn't sign up for this' comment out of proportion.

I just don’t get the part about wanting to dump his contract. I get they want to try to trade him. I just think he has more value than just being a cap dump. Like DeBrusk for Gallagher. Uh, no….

DeBrusk is a finisher on the power play. I think a natural fit would be to Edmonton for one of their horrible contracts to get a high pick down the road - they may have to rebuild after McJesus bolts but be willing to ante up now.

I’d do DeBrusk for Gallagher + 2nd/3rd.

Montreal should consider it too.

They benched Gally because his production hit the skids. Jake scored 23G on the worst team in the league. He could be a 25-30G player on a team with better players (like Montreal).

The Habs gain a younger player who goes after the puck and loves the front of the net, he is cost controlled for 5 more years, and they also gain $600K in cap space.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

With the rising of the cap, I think the term ‘cap dump’ no longer applies. Until the cap levels out at a regular pace again (opposed to the leaps of cap limit post COVID ‘flat cap’era) it’s just teams dumping salary they don’t want to pay- outside a few teams like the Coilers). Media still calls it wrong and it’s not really accurate. Once the cap growth levels out again, we will see.. I guess teams could end up in a cap crunch again once they overpay a few stars by 10mil..🤷🏼

It looks like he's getting an AGM title here, which he didn't have in LA. That presumably means a bump in pay as well.

I guess he's from Powell River, so there's that too.

Yeah, just noticed the ‘AGM’ part of his title. If not a pay bump, then a buff on the CV and potential to move into other parts of the organization.
