I'm with you on that one, Cousin.
29yo, consistent producer, speed to burn.
But if he wants out of Detroit, likely for lack of ever playing in the postseason... well, this ain't the town for him either. No way he waives for this shite-show to continue wasting his prime.
At least this would ensure Q. Hughes can never go home again.

Re: AROUND THE LEAGUE - 25-26
Larkin’s announcement opens up a potential Petey destination. Desperate GM who must win now and probably had nothing left to lose. Willing to overlook long term consequences for potential short term payoff. Because he’s not going to be around for the consequences unless it works.
But I want nothing to do with Larkin. Not because Larkin isn’t a good player, but because he doesn’t increase the chance the Canucks find a core player for the future.
No reason Stevie Y need to offload his problem and find his solution in the same transaction. Unless it’s a 3 way trade.
Downside of this announcement is that it adds an available center into the mix for teams that might be looking at Pettersson.

I recall throwing Larkin Seider for Hughes with nips and tucks @ Nuckertuzzi a year or so back...
What might have been.

Don’t mind the 3 way trade option.
DET: EP40
LA: Larkin
VAN: 2027 1st from LA, prospect

That might be the best-case scenario for all involved.
Love the Sport. Love the Team.
Hate the League.

Re: AROUND THE LEAGUE - 25-26
Full NMC. Wants out partly because the team can't make the playoffs.....also because he has a poor relationship with Yzerman.
I feel like he would never agree to come to Vancouver right now.....and also, do we want a guy who wants out because his team can't win?
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

Actually would not be surprised to see Guerin jump at Larkin.
Improves them immeasurably and may help with long terming Hughes.

Re: AROUND THE LEAGUE - 25-26
I agree, I think the addition of Larkin puts them into the regular final-4 contender......However, I gotta wonder what they would part with to make that happen.
They don't have a 1st this year, nor do they have a 2nd in the next 3 years.
A trade like that makes their 2027 and 2028 1RP's pretty low value trade chips.
Their prospect depth is also depleted, ranked at 23rd in the league according to The Athletic's Scott Wheeler.
Joel Eriksson Ek + 2027 1st + Prospect may get it done, but I I doubt it.....and it would also deplete their depth down the middle as bringing in Larkin should be a move that pushes JEE to the 2nd line. The knock on Minnesota has been that they don't have a true top-line pivot, that's still true, and while Larkin addresses that issue, it would mean that they need to find a 2nd line center.

The Wild Cup window is now...
Danila Yurov
Charlie Stramel
2028 1st
..for..
Larkin.
Larkin
Erik Ek
Player X
McCarron (re-)signed
...could be managable centre ice depth dependant upon player X.
Hell, they can have EP40 for their '27 first.
Or Rossi.

Lancer, I just read your signature.
You should add ‘hate our owner’ to make it complete
The 'Chain of Command' is the chain I am going to beat you with until you understand I am in charge.

That was actually my first thought…..minus Stramel.
But Larkin is a legit 1C.
Giving them Larkin for that package all but ensures that the pick will be in the bottom 10…..probably lower.
Yurov hasn’t wowed yet and likely never does.
I know almost nothing about Stramel.
Not sure I make that deal if I’m Stevie Y.
Also, Yzerman is not one to be bullied. Rumours I hear about him make me think he’s a prick. Might just be the modern era Lou Lam. I could see him refusing to deal Larkin unless unless Larkin totally waives his trade protection and just goes where he gets sent.

Again...as noted yesterday to UW...just a foundation/framework get the conversation started post.
Yzerman likely comes back and asks for say...Wallstedt to be added which would then be a non-starter for Guerin.
But there is a deal to me made with the Wild imo.
Saw this online this AM so someone is on the same page as lever....
Jason Robertson and a 1st for Larkin.
McTavish Mintyukov amd a pick for Larkin.
