I'm fine with moving forward with Rossi as our #2 if we can dump the slug and replace him with a credible piece UW.

Rossi falls into my category of "all houses are for sale for the right offer." He is young enough where he could a key complement (like a 2C) to a core in 5 years, and he's the kind of player (like Boeser) who fits a profile that's really good to have for younger guys developing. Playmakers need guys who snipe and otherwise have a scorer's instinct to develop; scorers need playmakers. We won't know what we have with Sushi unless he's healthy and playing with a guy like Rossi.
EDIT ADD: But there are definitely scenarios where he's most useful to the Canucks as turned into futures before the 2027 draft.

Yeah....the only thing I disagree with there is Rossi and Boeser in the same sentence.

Also...ALL houses ARE for sale for the right offer in the right circumstance. Doesn't matter which one.

Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26
My point, right there. If Buium tops out as a 50-55 pt blueliner who isn't a tire-fire defensively, he's a good piece. If he does better, that's wonderful, but for now this is a reasonable a expectation for the kid.UWSaint wrote: ↑Mon May 18, 2026 9:45 am It would not surprise me much if Buium put together a campaign next year that is as good as Hughes' second full season -- still a minus player, but 50+ points and more goals than Hughes was producing at the time. There is skill there that had we not seen Hughes then we would not have seen in Vancouver forever. It is is a skill set that could evolve to a point a game player, very rare from the back end. And if he can improve his defensive play to be decent, even if he doesn't hit that offensive ceiling (but is more of a 50 point guy), he's going to be a very valuable defenseman.
If he's also the kind of guy they are convinced is committed to this city and franchise, and won't bolt for southern climes at the first chance like his countryman who went the other way in this trade, then it's worth it for the team to commit to him.If Zeev is the kind of guy who they think is committed to getting better and is a positive presence in the room (or at least not a dick), I think locking him up long term makes all kinds of sense.

One factor that would tilt the needle in favour of keeping him is how he is in the room. If he shows that he can be a leader in the room (with or without a letter on his shirt), he's not so old (unlike the Dickless Fuck) to be out of consideration for keeping around past the rebuild.UWSaint wrote: ↑Mon May 18, 2026 10:42 amRossi falls into my category of "all houses are for sale for the right offer." Next season should determine which way they go with him. He's an intriguing player. Hope he turns out.

Before the end of October, management will know who can be built upon and who can't.

Lets just hope they act on it, instead of thinking it can be fixed in-season... again. And again.
I don't know much about elite athletes, and their workout regiments - but I'm going to assume, that one summer of hard work won't undo 7 summers of doing nothing.

Especially if the individual in question doesn't know what "hard work" is....

Darren Dreger is reporting Adam Foote has been fired. Other changes to the staff as well.

Maybe EP40 becomes the Temu-RNH, and has 15 years of futility, marred with 10 different coaches?Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2026 10:54 am Darren Dreger is reporting Adam Foote has been fired. Other changes to the staff as well.

I imagine they'll bring someone in who has experience with coaching a young, 'up and coming' team. Then in a couple of years, they'll replace him, too...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26
Yeah, I feel like the secret plan is just more nepotism... bringing in the old ex-teammates.
If you truly believe you need the temporary experience to help coach these incoming young guys until they mature, then honestly, you're just shuffling the Foote deck chair for the Manny model.
Foote may or may not deserve this, but if this is indeed the rationale to bring in their buddy... it reeks, imo.
...then if they do draft the offspring of their buddy, I would probably not feel anger anymore, just numbness and disappointment.
