Even if they do come up on their list in the spots the Canucks are drafting, I would still be concerned about Mr Aquilini taking an unusual interest in their development once they're in the system. It might be the kind of issue that's worth avoiding.Nuckertuzzi wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2026 2:29 pm For this reason maybe better to avoid. But then you can't run a team based on opinions/optics. They gotta make decisions based on what's best and if they and their scouting staff feel these kids are better than others available to them, then they gotta do it.

Keep in mind, you aren't drafting the Sedins. Having said that, for the Flames, I hope they don't trade up or down to get one or both of them. If one or both fall into the Flames lap in the 2nd round (the Flames have 4 2nd round picks this year), then I'm ok with them drafting one or both of them.
I'll bet that they don't get drafted by the same team.

This kind of PR laden move will be a tell tale sign of his influence to me, should it come to pass.
Very true. Further tell tale would be reading the genuineness in the Twins'/RJ's tone when they discuss the picks. If they sound like manufactured comments then you probably know fucking master of puppets still pulling the strings.

We have seen the way he likes to undermine inexperienced management in the past. This kind of rookie alumni setup seems ready made for some heavy interference.Nuckertuzzi wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2026 3:13 pmMegaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2026 2:48 pm Mr Aquilini's presence back in the war room with inexperienced management will be worth tracking.

I’d take them late 2nd and early 3rd round.
But don’t spend anything in the top 48 on a gimmick.

It also kills the promotional value, eh Corn. What do you think the chances are that Mr Aquilini, in his new, oresumably more inviolved role, would put up with the lesser brother remaining behind in Abby for any length of time?Cornuck wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2026 2:27 pmThis is a very valid concern - one in Abby, one in Van - one pans out, the other doesn't - trade one, trade both?Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2026 1:05 pm I just think having twins that are iffy prospects has some real potential to be a headache for management.

Not sure if it's all gimmick - I mean, they're the 2 top scorers in the WHL this year, and from BC (ok, maybe that part is a gimmick) - but we're always harping on about getting some local talent.
Still agree, we have no reason to make some moves just to get them,
The Jet Woo Era is over.

Making special moves or blowing picks to be Drafting twins is the gimmick I was referring to.Cornuck wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2026 3:52 pmNot sure if it's all gimmick - I mean, they're the 2 top scorers in the WHL this year, and from BC (ok, maybe that part is a gimmick) - but we're always harping on about getting some local talent.

Re: Drafting the Ruck twins - yea/nay?
The answer to me is simple. When pick 24 comes around if one of them is BPA then you pick him. If the other one falls to 33 and is BPA you pick him. I do not see them as game breakers that we should be going out of our way to draft. We need to improve our prospects pool and you do that by sticking to the plan and draft BPA.
It would cost us at least 2 picks to snag the 25th OA. Like 2 2nds at least. I'm not sure it is worth it.

Yeah. That sums it up nicely (with more detail than I put in).Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2026 4:00 pm The answer to me is simple. Corn, you could easily be describing the same scenario as drafting the Bains twins, Hardeep and Arshdeep.
I know the ringmaster need sideshows for his circus, but only if they are the best available freaks as HW says.

As long as everyone is on board with taking the Rucks if they happen to be BPA, I'm sure Mr Aquilini can take care of that detail.Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2026 4:00 pm The answer to me is simple.
