At this point it’s not rebound, it’s reclamation.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

The years 2029-2032 make the buyout functionally useless.

Let’s just keep posting the “he just needs a change of scenery” until someone bites.

Yeah, it's bitter medicine isn't it. Man, Scooter and his agent really stuck it to the geezer, didn't they. Though, if you were inclined to do it, this would be the time.

A clean break?

That sucker is buyout proof. There is some savings for 3 years, fuck all the last 3 years and 6 years of regret. Don't do it. Don't even point at it.

I don't understand these messed up contracts. It would be my #1 question to the incoming GM. Are you gonna sign buyout proof team future killing contracts? Cuz, we didn't learn a god damned thing from Loui or OEL. We signed shitty contracts with Brock and DeBrusk too, with low salaries and high bonuses near the end.

Scooter's brand can't be doing that well these days, one would think.

The Brock extension was shocking to me. We were out from under that problem...what the fuck were you thinking?

Whoever we bring in to steer this ship and draft talent ...please quit with the lead footed prospects and focus on guys who have the gift of flight.

Please.

The biggest problem with Brock's contract isn't cap or term. Its that it is so front end loaded, the buyout is pointless. And the crap about lowering the $ cost makes it easier to move later is mostly bullshit. GMs trade on cap hit, not dollars. Buyout cap hit is based on dollars paid.

If you want to see some fun, look at Florida. Lots of long term contracts with only 1$mil as salary. The rest is signing bonuses. Potential big cap hits on buyouts with no dollar savings if and when the 30 somethings start to age into crappiness.

Remember when we all got mad at Mikey Matheson for piledriving Petey's scrawny neck into the ice? Who would've guessed that we would all be on MMs side 8 years later...

Ol' Mikey isn't such a bad guy after all.

I can't believe I was upset about a silly little thing like that.
