I'm talking some serious shit to the coiler mourners today. They were arguing hard about how they'll walk the ducks in this one and I warned them that their suck was deep and permanent but they argued and argued...losers

I hear ya, I won't be upset if the Habs win and bring a Cup back to Canada.Picker of Cherries wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2026 2:45 am I don’t get the Habs hate at this point. Relative to other teams, but not the Canucks, it’s been a long time since they’ve won anything.
Of the teams left, I’d like to see the Habs or Buffalo win it. Have to admit Buffalo fans signing the Canadian anthem got to me.

Well, before the Flames came to Calgary, I was the biggest habs fan around. I have pictures at a company barbeque, with me proudly wearing a habs jersey back then. I think I still have it, as well as a bunch of other habs memorabilia stashed away somewhere. Once the Flames came to Calgary, I changed my allegiance, although it did take a few years to switch over. Now, they are my second most hated team behind the Oilers.

Interesting! What caused the hockey hate against the Habs?

Re: 2025-26 OOTS: Playoffs Edition
I couldn't stand going to the Coliseum in the 80's (when games were affordable to cheap A-holes like me) and getting drowned out by red and blue. It wasn't just the noise, the smugness was nauseating beyond belief. So I had a pretty nasty hate on for the Habs back then equal to if not more than for the leaves.
Funny thing is it has faded over the years to an almost nonexistent level now. I wonder if it's because I needed them to feel some pain after being spoiled forever. And over 30 years of suck now I think I'm good. Also, as you grow up and "mature" you learn to appreciate things that deserve respect. Montreal simply does everything right. It's hard not to admire the immense history from a fellow Canadian city that in itself has a lot of history. And that building rocks like no other in the League which make their games super fun to watch.
So, until they win yet another Cup and become annoying as hell again, I'm totally OK with that team.
leaves however, hate still strong as ever. It's the center of the universe thing. "We The North" (Craptors)…"Canada's Team" (BlowJ's)…all that crap getting shoved down our throats ad nauseam. So anything TO…nuh-uh, never!

They are from Quebec - and I have grown to hate everything that comes out of that province. The special treatment that province gets makes my blood boil.

But isnt that exactly what the overly vocal 18% of Albertans want?

Cookie you should check Terry and Deaner in Fubar.....you'll see Alberta has its own "distinct society and culture" much like the Quebecois do

Pretty cool canadian anthem in Montreal.
I guess MTL are Canada's team now.

I grew up a Habs hating leaves fan when the Canucks were still in the WHL, then I switched over, obviously. Back then, things were a little different; Montreal was always winning the cup, for starters. And Montreal, not Toronto, was the center of the universe. It was sort of New York, and Toronto was clearly the second city. That all changed in 1976.

I love the way these Habs are playing. Gutsy, tough, fast. We can only dream of something resembling that on the west coast

And skilled as fuck.
Still gotta see if they can get over that playoff hump that a lot of similar young teams haven't been able or took forever to do. A win today would go a long way.
That's why I was so blown away by how the Ducks managed to pull that off in what is essentially their first year of compete. They literally willed the Oil to wave the white flag right from the start yesterday. There was never a doubt. That was impressive.

The coilers played like they already knew they couldn't beat the ducks so why put in that extra 10%. Mcdayvid even admitted it after the game.
