He had a high ankle sprain last fall requiring surgery. High ankle sprains are a bitch. Most guys follow a path similar to Hogs this year. Miss 40 games. Look mostly like shit for 40 more games, as it properly heals, and the player's confidence in the ankle grows. He has a good chance to bounce back next year, canuck luck aside.

Canuck Luck says he WILL bounce back with a breakout 25+ goal season... for another team after we toss him aside.
Normally I wouldn't bat an eye or could care less if that happened as I've lost patience with Hogs. But there might be something to Tciso's post above, so I'm open to give him another shot with a fresh start off a good offseason and perhaps a new coach that can work with him. Get a guage after 20 games or so to see if he's worth holding on to or cut bait. Doubt his value will change much between now and then so no rush making a decision.

He look great at camp and was one of the players that showed up ready to go. Then the injury. So unless you get a decent return I’d be tempted to let him have the season to start.
The only HW the Canucks need

Enough of the smurfs. Who cares if he gets whatever it was he lost, he's still a weenie little dude who won't move any needles even if he gets back to full power.
I've seen enough weenie little dudes darting about thank you

+1
If we are holding out hopes that a 5'9", 3 million dollar, 15 goal scoring, soon to be 26 y/o Hoglander is going to move needles we deserve our penance.
Move him along.
Find a beefier Canadian kid that can pot 15, hit and fight a little.
Find 2 for 1.5 each that can score 8 or 10 and do the other shit if u like.
Hoglander fml.
Clean house of these dwarves and can not do's.

Point is what's the rush? What exactly are we replacing him with? And for what purpose?
They're gonna suck bad again next year anyway, precisely what we want. Don't even think about trying to improve the team now.
If he gains any kinda value back in trade, good for us. If not, no difference.

It's just time to move on from Team Sweden in general.
The Jet Woo Era is over.

I just told you in my post what you replace him with.Nuckertuzzi wrote: ↑Wed Apr 22, 2026 8:32 pm Point is what's the rush? What exactly are we replacing him with? And for what purpose?
Keep Karlsson for that role.
Turf Hoglander.

I'd keep the youngest Pettersson as well. Kids got heart even if he's a bottom pairing guy at best
The chinless one can hit the road with the other one and Hoglander can be their luggage caddy

My bad. What I was trying to get at is why replace him now if it's at the risk of wasting resources to do so.
Maybe I'm in the minority but I just do not want to start trying to improve the team anytime as soon as next season. If he's still here and he still sucks, that's almost better for us in the long run. Even better if he regains some value.
I totally get why everyone's sick of the garbage and want all the stench removed asap. Me, I want it to continue (off the ice though, different story).
You'll see what I mean if/when improvements made gets us to single digits from a playoff spot next year.

Karlson brings all the 3rd line talent with some size that Hoglander could only hope to.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.
I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Nobody needs to sell me on Karlson. He's one of the few Swedes we've had who look North American.
