The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.
Correct....I've seen the WHO probably 10 times the last at GM Place with the Vancouver Symohny Orchestra, i guess that was pre-Covid which was actually pretty good.
That and a couple of others were obviously Geriatric tours but still fun to see them.
Saw the Quadrophenia Tour so was happy about that as well.
Luckily I also saw them when they were "relatively" young.....first time was in LA with the Clash in 1982 which was the end of the Kenny Jones era.
I was still a punk at that point in time.
My favourite performing rock band of all time.
Townshend my favourite on stage lead guitar player....NOT favourite guitarist to be clear...of all time as well.
My experience with that first show was in the upper bowl, and I felt I was watching the same moves I'd seen so many times before - the Who have GREAT songs - but I felt it was all a little too 'prepared'.
Like you - that was in the great days of punk when shows were plentiful. Going to punk gigs and having the fun and unexpected surrounding you in small venues, I don't really remember many arena acts from those days standing out to me.
One of my friends saw the Who in his teens and became a drummer the next day, thanks to Moon.
I'm at that point now where in smaller venues with reserved seating - I'm in the first couple of rows. Arena shows, usually the first 20 (or GA preferably)
Of course - the number of shows I go to these days is low.
