Good for Myers to wait it out. Good that Dallas stepped up. I am sure they knew he had a limited number of teams he would waive to go to. To bad for Detroit to be left out again.
Two draft picks, nice. Retention, I didn't think we would have to retain on him but that may be what got us the extra 4th.
If we retain on Kane that's it, no more retention spots left until July 1st. That is a good thing. I really don't want them retaining on longer term contracts.
Hard to say if I will miss Myers or not. I will miss how beat up he gets here on this board.

That’s a good point Wids. I hadn’t thought about it, but now that you mention it, I would prefer to see them retain 50% on Kane to bring back another 2nd rounder pick in this draft or next year’s. Keeps them from doing something truly stupid.
I’d also prefer it be a 2027 pick. Going into this year the plan was to make the playoffs, next season the plan is rebuilding, so you draft and scout accordingly. If they get too many picks this year, I can see Frank thinking the restocking is done and push them into burning picks to acquire players next season in a chase for playoff gate revenues.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..
Another option would be to take back an expiring contract in order to make the numbers work for the other team. This keeps the option open for the lone retention spot.
Kane should be the next player moved. Only way I see them getting a similar deal as Myers’ is if they retain or take back a similar contract.
“I want to see more fight in the group,” Allvin said. “It's their job, the players’ job and our job, to prepare every night for the fans and playing for the crest. You can lose games, but you’ve got to play the right way and you've got to compete. And that's what I want to see from my group here moving forward. I want to see us getting better. Losing games is not great for anyone, and we owe it to the fans here that have been great in Vancouver, and our players should play hard every night.”
Pssst... Patrik, draft CANADIANS
