I read an article somewhere a few weeks back where the author was questioning the Canucks medical team and player care over some number of seasons.

He offered examples of players who had left here after battling ailments and succeeded on a healthier basis elsewhere.

As I recall he also used it to offer thoughts on Demko and EP40.

I was going to dig into it and do a fact/fiction assessment but never got around to it.

The fact that Chytil played (while obviously tentative and uncomfortable as Jello describes) might speak to validity in the theory....

May have been the same article, spoke of the repeated "setbacks" in rehab, Bluger and Rossi were the examples.

Yeah...not completely nor directly critical as I recall but he spoke to a need for stability in certain organizational aspects post dumping of various rehab staff....

The money is guaranteed if he goes on LTIR. Of course, this contract will be his last, so yes, it's tough.

He has one more year left on the contract after this season, at roughly $4.5.

I believe I read somewhere recently that the Canucks, for a time, were operating with less than the allowable league minimum of qualified medical/training staff. It was probably Drance orJohnston with the story, but it didn't sound like it was debatable.

Bluegers, interviewed by Iain MacIntyre, said this:

"I think we’ve got to find some character in our group. I know we have some good guys that want to win and know how to win and to compete and play hard, but I think we’ve got to find it as a team. ... You know, we probably don’t have enough character as a group to dig in in those moments, and we just kind of get deflated too easily."

I wonder who he's talking about in the character department? The kids are the kids, so one can only expect so much from a rookie. Petey is a no-brainer; he's the epitome of the tin-man. Brock may be in there too. Kane?

Does this become a measure of which vets stay and who goes at the TDD or offseason? Between coaches, players and management, who has the character to instill in the youngsters and who doesn't? Looking at upcoming personnel moves through this lens may be telling.

The character players that stand out to me are Myers, Hronek, Blueger, DOC, and Garland.

That's not enough for sure, and they definitely don't have the talent in that group, outside of Hronek and Garland, to be effective drivers for winning.
