Only 99 days

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

Eskay operated as an underground mine, one of Canada's richest. Ore was direct shipped without concentration to smelters in the Orient.

Today the government patted themselves on the back for granting a permit for the mine to reopen as an open pit operation. No big deal.

Government also trumpeted the cooperation of the Tahltan Band.

The Band held a vote about a month ago on whether they would support the mine. A few days before the vote, Skeena Resources announced an up front cash payment of $40 million to the Band. Roughly $10 thousand for each Band member.

Surrey level extortion.
I cringe at what they might eventually get when there is a new pipeline to the coast.

Why does Government believe they need to build social housing and low income housing? Is it not Governments role to set a regulatory framework and then get out of the way? Their role should be to providing stimulus (tax incentives) or penalties (tax penalties) to steer things in the manor they choose, but not to Nationalize or compete in the industry.

Every time I see a Government news release trumpeting a new social housing development they are building I think of Jamaica in the 1970's. Governments built large social housing projects, filled them with their supporters, essentially stuffing the ballot box for that neighbourhood, and then making alliances with local gangs to maintain order and loyalty.

In time, those gangs became international drug gangs, initially trafficking weed then moving to transshipping cocaine and heroin and instead of beeing tool of the local politicians, the politicians became the gangs puppets.

Are we seeing similar in Canada? Who runs Richmond? Who runs Surrey? Who controls North Vancouver?

Why are communities of less than 5,000 people and 8 problematic addicts community 80% of the property crime getting 50 bed drug treatment housing and 300 unit low income facilities? These communities then need more government employee unionized medical staff and social workers to go along with those on government supports.

ahhhh cynical conspiracy theories

Burnaby dissident Iranian who has, for many years, been critical of the Iranian regime and warned of IRGC co-ordination with local drug gangs to intimidate the community went missing a few days ago...

Coal

And need is that the new ministerial staking regime, after one year, claims staked is down nearly 30% and surface area 60%.

The much heralded 90-120 day timeline for Aboriginal consultation is averaging 127 days.

The process of a failure.

Conspiracy....imo not so much.

Outside of Social Housing or Treatment Locales in Vancouver we have been constructing future Ghettos for years with all the mid level condo spaces jammed into tight locations.

The shitty construction, lax permitting/processes of inspection and graft have created 3 dressed up as 9 buildings which will fall apart and lose value rapidly.......you can already see it happening in some of the leaky condo build ups from the '90's.

I don't have an answer but it is what it is...

...reality bites.

I've been noticing that the old urban motels the Province purchased for homeless crack shacks are now so dilapidated they are dropping under the excavator bucket.

All those wood frame 3 story apartment complexes built throughout the Vancouver (Marpole, parts of Kits, Strathcona, Metrown, New West) area in the 50's - 70's, I believe were largely funded buy tax incentives for Dr.s and lawyers
