There's gotta be some great post game interviews on this one.
Was just coming here to mention it, it hadn’t occurred to me Roy watched this spectacle with his own eyes - I saw Markstrom and Keefe’s postgame comments, now I have to go find Patty’s
Patrick Roy (post game when asked about his team’s breakouts): “I thought we could have been a bit better, but at the end of the day we found a way to win a game.”
9-0 slaughter…..found a way to win.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

Could not play for us that kid though.
Appears to be doing just fine with Tocchy.
Briere rolled the dice on the kid, likely betting that the kid really did need a blank slate in a new place. Looks like the trade also served as a moment of clarity for Zegras to round out his game and grow up as a player. Tocchy no doubt told him this is his last chance to have a career as a star and not a "what could have been" kind of drifter. Couturier doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who is going to tolerate anybody not getting with the program and messing the chemistry in the room.
Maybe it would have happened somewhere else. I'm not sure the dressing room in Vancouver was in a state to take on Zegras' baggage, though I have little doubt that Foote would have done a similar-caliber job as Tocchet with him.
Even so, I don't think adding Zegras would have changed Hughes' mind on extending in Vancouver. In that event, how would Zegras have fit within the ongoing rebuild/retool/hybrid-whatever-the-fuck-it-is? Just seems like a good-looking part that just doesn't fit with where the team is at now.
