Remember most of our kids play 80 games on 140 different teams, and never practice.

It's a system that probably isn't any longer conducive to winning big tournaments like this.

But Team Canada has always been like this. We use to be able to ice 2 or 3 all-star teams in any kind of tournament due to the abundance of depth to choose from. Just like an ASG where people show up and win on skill alone without breaking a sweat.

Yes, a lack of time for real prep work. Mesh with guys you never played with and learn some systems play. Voila! Everyone expects gold.

Yeah, the model's best days are behind it now imho. Get on the bus, ride three hours, play a game, get on the bus, ride six hours, play a game, get on the bus, ride eleven hours, play a game...it has to be the worst system in the world for developing hockey players. Reduce the number of teams by two-thirds, knock the schedule down to fifty games and become a pure college feeder system. Get Canadian universities some elite talent as well. This needs to change. John Paddock screwing Connor Bedard to make money off him should have been the end of it.
